Donald Trump’s relationship took a strange turn.
Critics contend Fox News boosting Trump was one of the big reasons Trump won in 2016.
But now Donald Trump called out Fox News. Here is what has viewers concerned.
Liberal media critics – fake news CNN has an entire media team dedicated to trying to force Fox News to fire popular primetime hosts – routinely lambaste Fox News as “state-run TV” because Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham support President Trump and his agenda.
But they are primetime opinion hosts.
The rest of Fox News Channel’s programming looks far different.
During the 6PM “Special Report” program, reporter William La Jeunesse reported that the Department of Homeland Security reached a deal with the city of Portland and state of Oregon to withdraw federal law enforcement from the city in exchange for the city and state cracking down on Antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters.
“Under the deal the Oregon state police will help defendthe courthouse, allowing some federal agents to withdraw,” La Jeunesse reported.
“Both sides have a chance to prove themselves,” La Jeunesse added. “The feds are expected to remove the fence surrounding the courthouse and stop sending agents into the streets. State police will likely have to clear a nearby park where protesters and rioters have staged.”
President Trump staked his campaign’s law and order message on deploying federal forces to out-of-control cities to restore peace on the streets.
The President reacted angrily to Fox News reporting that federal agents were retreating from Portland.
“@FoxNews reported incorrectly what the Federal Government is doing with respect to Portland. We are demanding that the Governor & Mayor do their job or we will do it for them. Too complicated to discuss in a Tweet, but bad reporting by Fox (possibly on purpose!),” President Trump wrote.
Earlier in the day, President Trump blasted Fox News for moving left over the course of the last four years.
“I was on Air Force One flying to the Great State of Texas, where I just landed. It is AMAZING in watching @FoxNews how different they are from four years ago. Not even watchable. They totally forgot who got them where they are!” President Trump tweeted.
President Trump is not the first conservative to question the programming direction at Fox News.
During impeachment, legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano regularly parroted Adam Schiff’s talking points.
And “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace is a regular critic of President Trump.
In fact, the 18 hours of Fox News programming between “Fox and Friends” in the morning and Carlson, Hannity and Ingraham at night do not look materially different from fake news CNN.
That is what Donald Trump was reacting to and with the election less than 100 days away, many conservatives are worried that if Fox adopts the anti-Trump narrative there will be no mainstream media outlet to cover the race fairly.
