President Trump is facing a difficult re-election fight.
Democrats were about to unleash their secret weapon to seal the President’s doom.
But then Donald Trump dropped the hammer on one Democrat plan to rig the 2020 election.
Democrats and fake news “reporters” spent the last four years demanding social media companies like Facebook and Twitter censor, fact-check or outright ban Donald Trump.
They claim the President spreads “misinformation.”
But their real fear is that the President will repeat his successful campaign from 2016 and use social media to communicate with the American people free of the biased and dishonest fake news media filter.
The left wants to rig the 2020 election by controlling the flow of information about the election that the American people receive.
That’s why the fake news celebrated a major victory when Twitter added so-called “fact-checks” to two of the President’s tweets describing the dangers of voter fraud.
Not only did Twitter’s “fact-check” include errors, Twitter mainly checked Trump’s opinions because the tweets in question concerned the hypothetical dangers of voter fraud.
In response, the President signed an executive order directing the U.S. government to address social media’s systemic bias against conservatives.
“We’re here today to defend free speech from one of the greatest dangers,” the President announced in an Oval Office ceremony where he signed the executive order.
The President explained how social media companies obtained nearly unlimited power to shape American political discourse based on what speech they allowed and whose views were censored.
“They’ve had unchecked power to censure, restrict, edit, shape, hide, alter virtually any form of communication between private citizens or large public audiences,” the President began.
“There’s no precedent in American history for so small a number of corporations to control so large a sphere of interaction,” President Trump added.
The centerpiece of the executive order was directing the Secretary of Commerce to petition the Federal Communications Commission to reexamine social media companies’ liability protection under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.
“The choices that Twitter makes, when it chooses to suppress, edit, blacklist, shadowban are editorial decisions, pure and simple, they are editorial decisions,” the President stated.
Under Section 230, social media companies are immune from lawsuits for content posted on their platforms.
Newspapers and websites can be sued by individuals for publishing false or defamatory content.
Social media companies are protected from these lawsuits provided they act in a good faith manner as viewpoint-neutral platforms.
But by “fact-checking” the President, Twitter took on the role of a publisher by advocating a political viewpoint.
“What they choose to fact check and what they choose to ignore or promote is nothing more than a political activism group,” President Trump declared.
Conservatives also note that Twitter never added any “fact-checks” to the conspiracy theories and lies about President Trump and his campaign colluding with the Russians.
Democrats and fake news reporters spent nearly four years spreading misinformation and lies on social media about the President and his campaign aides being secret Russian traitors.
None of this content was removed or fact-checked by Twitter.
By letting that slide and “fact-checking” the President, Twitter established itself as a left-wing publisher that no longer made a good faith effort to act as a viewpoint-neutral platform.
