During Donald Trump’s time in office the corporate media often smeared Fox News as “state TV.”
But whatever relationship existed between Fox News and Trump appears broken.
And Donald Trump just revealed a shocking change at the top of Fox News.
On his Truth Social platform Donald Trump slammed “Fox and Friends” as a “terrible” show after the program covered Trump winning the straw poll at the Turning Point USA Summit.
“Fox and Friends” co-host Steve Doocy noted that a poll of Florida voters showed Ron DeSantis leading Trump 61 to 39 percent in a 2024 primary matchup which set Trump off.
In his post Trump wondered if Fox News Channel board member and Never Trump RINO Paul Ryan was now in charge of the network’s programming.
“@foxandfriends just really botched my poll numbers, no doubt on purpose. That show has been terrible – gone to the ‘dark side.’ They quickly quote the big Turning Point Poll victory of almost 60 points over the number two Republican, and then hammer me with outliers. Actually, almost all polls have me leading all Republicans & Biden BY A LOT. RINO Paul Ryan, one of the weakest and worst Speakers EVER, must be running the place. Anyway, thank you to Turning Point, the crowd & ‘love’ was AMAZING!” Trump wrote.
Fox News is owned by Rupert Murdoch.
And in the wake of the January 6 committee hearings the Rupert Murdoch-owned New York Post and Wall Street Journal published editorials claiming Donald Trump disqualified himself from serving as president based on the committee’s smear campaign.
“Mr. Trump took an oath to defend the Constitution, and he had a duty as Commander in Chief to protect the Capitol from a mob attacking it in his name. He refused. He didn’t call the military to send help. He didn’t call [then-Vice President Mike Pence] to check on the safety of his loyal VP. Instead he fed the mob’s anger and let the riot play out,” the Wall Street Journal’s editorial board declared.
“It’s up to the Justice Department to decide if [Trump’s inaction during Jan. 6] is a crime. But as a matter of principle, as a matter of character, Trump has proven himself unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again,” the New York Post’s editorial read.
It’s been long forgotten but in 2016 Fox News initially opposed Donald Trump’s candidacy and Megyn Kelly tried to take out Trump in the first GOP presidential primary debate.
Rupert Murdoch turning on Trump is no surprise.
Nor is Rupert Murdoch’s support determinative in the GOP primary as Trump proved in 2016.
But it looks like Rupert Murdoch will use his media empire to try and stop Trump’s 2024 campaign.
