Donald Trump’s selected Amy Coney Barrett as his pick to succeed Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The stakes for this nomination could not be higher.
And that’s because Donald Trump just revealed how Amy Coney Barrett will decide the 2020 election.
Senate Republicans made it clear shortly after Ginsburg’s death that they intended to confirm President Trump’s nominee before the election.
Fake news so-called “reporters” and Joe Biden screamed that it was too close to the election and that this nomination must wait until the voters had their say.
Republicans dismissed that nonsense because Donald Trump and Senate Republicans were all duly elected and the Constitution doesn’t stop applying because it is an election year.
President Trump also made it clear that since Democrats were planning all sorts of skullduggery around the election, it was important for the Supreme Court to have a full nine-member contingent to decide any cases that came their way.
“I think this will end up in the Supreme Court,” President Trump told reporters. “And I think it’s very important that we have nine justices, and I think the system is going to go very quickly. I’ll be submitting at five o’clock on Saturday the name of the person that I chose for the most important of all positions.”
President Trump called what Democrats were doing a scam and insisted it was vital the Senate confirm his nominee so the Supreme Court could operate at full strength.
“But in terms of time, we can go to January 20th, but I think it’s better if you go before the election because I think…this scam that the Democrats are pulling — it’s a scam — the scam will be before the United States Supreme Court,” President Trump continued.
The President warned that an eight member Supreme Court could deadlock on a four to four decision and the election would not have finality.
“I think having a four-four situation is not a good situation if you get that — I don’t know that you get that, I think it should be eight-nothing or nine-nothing,” President Trump explained. “Just in case, it would be more political than it should be, I think it’s very important to have a nine-justice Court.”
This is a legitimate worry.
Democrat judges in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin are rewriting state laws to allow for dangerous ballot harvesting schemes as well as allowing for votes to be counted for weeks after Election Day.
President Trump and his campaign are challenging these abuses of power and the cases are expected to head all the way to the Supreme Court.
Joe Biden is staffing up with lawyers and Hillary Clinton instructed Joe Biden not to concede defeat in the election under any circumstances.
Senate Republicans confirming Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court will put six Republican appointees on the court and render Chief Justice John Roberts’ leftward drift irrelevant.
And that could prove decisive in court battles that could decide who wins the 2020 Presidential Election.
