Donald Trump’s had a rocky relationship with Fox News the last year and a half.
On multiple occasions, the President called out Fox for bias and recommended viewers find a different network to get their news.
And now Donald Trump may never watch Fox News again after what he just saw on TV.
On the latest episode of “Next Revolution,” Fox News host Steve Hilton sounded a loud alarm about the 2020 Presidential Election.
“Where is the energy?” Hilton asked. “Where are the ideas in the hope for the future? Two weeks ago we were promised exciting policy announcements in the next two weeks. We are still waiting.”
Hilton was referencing President Trump saying two weeks ago he would have a new healthcare plan.
President Trump has now said he will unveil a plan to replace Obamacare by the end of the month.
Hilton said a second term policy agenda and rolling out new initiatives was key to a Trump victory.
In fact, Hilton believed the situation was so dire that the Fox News host warned of a low energy campaign that was “sleepwalking into a Biden presidency.”
“We don’t see any of that from the Trump campaign. They seem to be sleepwalking into a Biden presidency and a total calamity in a Democrat takeover of the House, Senate, White House, the law. Unconstrained power to implement the most left-wing agenda ever put before they make a people by major parties,” Hilton added.
Hilton advised the President to roll out new policies every week to seize control of the election narrative.
“Wake up! We need to see a major Trump policy announcement or policy speech every week between now and November, nothing else will do. Get on with it, or the country is sunk on the coronavirus and everything else,” Hilton concluded.
Every president that successfully runs for re-election states a clear case for the American people on what they can expect that president to push for in a second term.
Not all of these initiatives are successful.
Every election with an incumbent is a referendum on the incumbent.
And it’s not just a referendum on how the President performed in his first term.
It’s also a referendum on what the voters want for the next four years.
The President laying out a second term agenda gives the American people a sense that the President isn’t just running for re-election for the sake of re-election and has an agenda the voters can get behind.
Polls show President Trump trailing Joe Biden by about seven points.
There is still plenty of time to swing the three or four points in the popular vote Trump needsin order to win an Electoral College majority.
But President Trump may need to change up some tactics to get back into the race.
