Ilhan Omar couldn’t believe it.
One of Omar’s steadfast allies just sided with Donald Trump.
Trump won a huge international victory that made Ilhan Omar burst a blood vessel.
And Donald Trump won this huge victory that left Ilhan Omar seeing red.
Even though Ilhan Omar may support Palestinians even when they are firing rockets at innocent civilians, the rest of the world is not prepared to support them no matter what.
Realistically, the Palestinians’ only chance to have their own state is if they cooperate with Israel.
When Israel gave up Gaza, the Palestinians went and voted in a literal terrorist into leadership and have been firing rockets at Israel ever since.
A poll by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research found “64% of Palestinians favor a return to armed struggle.”
Realistically, Israel isn’t going to give up key military positions or part of their capital to Palestine when there is a good chance that they will turn against them at some point.
Israel lives with the reality that many of the countries around it wish for it to be destroyed.
While Trump’s plan doesn’t give the Palestinians everything that they want and restore it to its 1967 borders, it gives them the best deal that they are going to get at this point.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas complaining to the UN that the land he can get “is like Swiss cheese, really,” didn’t get him very far.
According to the Daily Wire:
The Trump administration secured a key victory yesterday at the hostile United Nations, as Holocaust-denying, kleptocratic, jihad-subsidizing Palestinian Authority (PA) chieftain Mahmoud Abbas failed to rally sufficient support to merely force a U.N. Security Council vote on a Palestinian draft resolution that would have rejected the Trump administration’s recently unveiled “deal of the century” peace plan.
The Security Council vote assuredly would have been vetoed by the United States, a permanent member, but the failure to even successfully garner support to stage a symbolic vote represents a monumental embarrassment for Abbas, the PA successor to unrepentant terrorist Yasser Arafat — himself a mentee of Hitler ally Haj Amin al-Husseini, the former grand mufti of Jerusalem. The diplomatic effort to stymie the symbolic vote, halting it dead in its tracks, thus also represents a clear win for the Trump administration’s United Nations diplomatic team. The United Nations, of course, is a body infamously hostile to the Jewish state and infamously mollycoddling of the Palestinian-Arab cause.
Abbas is speaking today at a special meeting of the U.N. Security Council. He had initially hoped to stage a Security Council vote on the “deal of the century” to follow his speech.
“This is a significant setback for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas,” Barak Ravid opined yesterday for Axios. “The postponement follows efforts from Jared Kushner and other administration officials over the last few days to dilute the text of the resolution and prevent a vote.”
Palestine has rejected better deals in the past, and the deals keep getting worse because Israel has increased in strength and the Arab states have gotten tired of the fight and don’t care as much as they have in the past.
Trump’s plan offers them a realistic path forward that would allow Palestine self-determination with and that’s a far better chance for them than continuing to fight Israel.
