In a tweet shortly after completing the purchase of Twitter, Musk admitted that the censors at Twitter worked to the advantage of Democrat politicians.
But that was just Musk admitting what conservatives already knew to be true.
Between the shadowbans – the process by which Twitter would suppress tweets to limit interactions – and outright deplatforming, conservatives already saw how Twitter tilted the playing field in favor of the Democrats.
Musk pledged to go one step further and post Twitter’s files on censorship in a bid to win back public trust through an unprecedented act of transparency.

Musk’s promise to bare Twitter’s secrets on censorship meant Americans would finally receive a full accounting on the decision-making process that led Twitter to block users from tweeting a link to the New York Post’s October 2020 report on the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop.
The Post’s reporting revealed an alleged pay-to-play scam where Hunter Biden sold access to his father – who was then-vice president – in exchange for millions of dollars.
Emails on Hunter Biden’s laptop also contained evidence of Joe Biden’s involvement in business deals that are now the subject of a criminal investigation.
Conservatives blasted Twitter for engaging in politically motivated censorship to help rig the election in Joe Biden’s favor.
In 2016 Democrats blamed media outlets for covering the criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton mishandling classified information for her defeat at the hands of Donald Trump.
Many on the right suspect that Twitter and Facebook suppressed the factual reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop – using the excuse the FBI told them it was Russian disinformation – to avoid a second round of “but her emails”-style recriminations if Trump won.
After the election then-Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey testified before Congress that it was a mistake to censor the Post’s story.
“We were called here today because of an enforcement decision we made against the New York Post based on a policy we created in 2018 to prevent Twitter from being used to spread hacked materials. This resulted in us blocking people from sharing a New York Post article publicly or privately,” Dorsey testified. “We made a quick interpretation using no other evidence that the materials in the article were obtained through hacking, and according to our policy, we blocked them from being spread. Upon further consideration, we admitted this action was wrong and corrected it within 24 hours.”
Elon Musk wants less censorship on Twitter.
Musk knows that censorship is bad for America because it restricts the flow of information to the public and turns social media into a vector for government propaganda leading to tyranny.
That’s why conservatives believe it is critical that Musk follow through on his promise and air all of Twitter’s dirty laundry so Americans can have full confidence Twitter is out of the election-meddling game.
