When Loretta Lynch met with Bill Clinton on her government airplane during the FBI investigation into Hillary’s email scandal, Americans thought the fix was in.
But no one knew how bad it actually was.
FBI Director James Comey just dropped a bombshell that left Americans across the country shaking their heads.
Comey testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
He was grilled about the 2016 election.
Comey had famously run down all of Hillary Clinton’s wrongdoings before announcing he would not recommend charges be brought against her for mishandling classified information.
Democrats believed he all but indicted Clinton and cost her the election.
Comey explained that one reason he took matters into his own hands was because Loretta Lynch flushed the Department of Justice’s credibility down the toilet by meeting with former President Clinton.
Politico reports:
“Comey said the impromptu meeting between then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton was the “capper” for him.
“A number of things had gone on … that made me worry that the department leadership could not credibly complete the investigation and decline prosecution without grievous damage to the American people’s confidence in the justice system,” he said. “I then said: ‘You know what, the department cannot by itself credibly end this. The best chance we have as a justice system is if I do something I never imagined before: step away from them and tell the American people’” what the FBI did and what it found.”
Comey also kept Lynch out of the loop for his planned public statement.
He claims it was to protect the integrity of the Department of Justice and the FBI.
Politico also reports:
“It was a “hard call” to keep Lynch out of the loop on the FBI’s conclusion, said Comey, who phoned the attorney general the morning of his planned July news conference at which he recommended no charges against Clinton.
“That was a hard call for me to make to call the attorney general that morning and say: ‘I’m about to do a press conference and I’m not gonna tell you what I’m gonna say,’” he testified. “And I said to her, ‘I hope you’ll understand someday why I think I have to do this.’ But look, I wasn’t loving this. I knew this would be disastrous for me personally, but I thought this is the best way to protect these institutions that we care so much about.”
But another way to interpret this is that he did not trust Lynch with the knowledge of his plans, and feared how she would handle it.
It’s not hard to see why that would be the case.
Then President Bill Clinton plucked Lynch out of obscurity in 1999 and named her United States Attorney to the Eastern District of New York.
She held the position until 2015 when Obama tapped her to succeed the controversial Eric Holder as Attorney General.
Lynch was a Clinton loyalist and Democrat partisan through and through.
Americans took her meeting with Bill Clinton as a clear sign the fix was in and she would make sure Hillary escaped any accountability for her criminal conduct.
Comey’s testimony confirmed their worst fears.
