Fox News went on the air in 1996 to provide an alternative to the fake news liberal media.
But in recent months, something has changed at the network.
And Fox News just made this one unthinkable betrayal of Donald Trump that no one saw coming.
Of all the networks, no one expected Fox News to join in on the manufactured outrage over Donald Trump saying in an ABC interview with Clinton family hatchet man George Stephanopoulos that he may listen to a foreign government if they had dirt on a Democrat rival before calling the FBI.
But on Shepard Smith’s daytime Fox News show, the liberal host and legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano delighted in spreading misinformation and fake news about the President.
Smith and Napolitano went so far as to say President Trump could be jailed if he followed through on what he said during the ABC sit-down.
At one point, Smith asked Napolitano, “Is there any way to argue that dirt from a foreign entity on a political opponent would be something that you can receive legally? Any wiggle room at all?”
Napolitano falsely claimed President Trump waded into criminal behavior.
“With respect to opposition research, the Federal Election Commission decided in other cases that that is a thing of value … that comes from a statute that prohibits receipt money or a thing of value from a foreign national. Whether the person is working for a foreign government or not,” Judge Napolitano responded.
This is a lie.
The Federal Election Commission bars candidates and campaigns from accepting something of value from a foreign source.
But there has never been an official determination on whether information qualifies as something of value.
However, Smith sought to drive this lie home by asking Napolitano if Trump admitted he was willing to commit a felony.
“Correct,” Napolitano continued. “He would be committing a felony.”
“This is not an area of the freedom of speech. This is not the president saying, ‘well, I speak to foreign leaders all the time,’” the judge added.
Napolitano then repeated his false claim that the President admitted he was a potential criminal in waiting.
“The president of the United States of America is prepared to commit a felony to get re-elected. That was my reaction and it was not a happy one,” Napolitano added. “I wish he didn’t say it.”
With the exception of Fox News’ primetime opinion host lineup, loyal Fox News viewers are wondering if the Fox News daytime hosts – like the notoriously liberal Smith – are beginning to take their cues from the anti-Trump fake news media.
And those fears were further heightened when Neil Cavuto gave voice to a conspiracy theory that Donald Trump ordered press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to resign to distract from the “scandal” surrounding the President’s comments to Papadopoulos.
This was ludicrous.
But unfortunately, viewers are noticing more anti-Trump nonsense making it on the air during Fox’s “news” programming.
