Fox News is locked in a massive legal battle that liberals believe could destroy the network.
Now all hell is breaking loose.
And that’s because the billion-dollar lawsuit against Fox News just took this shocking turn.
Dominion Voting Systems filed a $1.6 billion defamation suit against Fox News arguing Fox aired false claims by Trump supporters about the company’s machines swinging the election to Joe Biden.
Fox News fired back that they were doing journalism by reporting on the claims made by lawyers representing President Trump and that this lawsuit was an attack on the First Amendment and the freedom of the press.
New emails from a public relations firm Dominion hired boosted Fox News’s case.
Hamilton Place Strategies founding partner Tony Fratto wrote an email about the on-air comments made by Fox News host Maria Bartiromo — one of the hosts Dominion claimed defamed them — which showed the company could not actually find any defamatory statements Bartiromo made.
Fratto wrote “these examples don’t actually sound very damning. Is it possible we’re missing some?”
“In a lot of what we read for Maria, she actually worded things pretty carefully,” managing partner Stephanie Walstrom responded.
“That’s all possible,” Fratto admitted. “Sometimes things sound bad when you’re listening but they’re actually more careful than you think.”
A second email from a junior associate to Fratto revealed that they combed through all of Bartiromo’s public comments on Dominion made on both TV and social media but could not find any example of Bartiromo defaming Dominion as Bartiromo was always careful to preface her comments with language about how she was quoting other people or reporting on claims.
“We’ve combed through the Flag transcripts of Maria Bartiromo’s interviews, her Twitter, and her Parler, but she hasn’t made any statements that seem to have a strong case for defamation because she is always careful about either quoting other people (‘a report issued says…’, ‘Sidney Powell says…’) or not mentioning Dominion specifically. She leaves it up to her guests to make most of the defamatory claims,” the Hamilton Place Strategies associate admitted.
Fox News gloated over the admission in a statement that declared the admission that Dominion could not find any defamatory statements made by Maria Bartiromo backed up their argument that this lawsuit was really just an attempt to embarrass and destroy Fox News.
“Thanks to today’s filings, Dominion has been caught red handed using more distortions and misinformation in their PR campaign to smear FOX News and trample on free speech and freedom of the press. We already know they will say and do anything to try to win this case, but to twist and even misattribute quotes to the highest levels of our company is truly beyond the pale,” the Fox News statement read.
