Kamala Harris convinced herself that she is next in line to take over if Joe Biden does not run for re-election.
But Harris has another thing coming.
And that’s because Hillary Clinton hit Kamala Harris with this devastating news about 2024.
Hillary Clinton gave an interview to the Financial Times that raised eyebrows across the American political scene.
The topic of Joe Biden’s age and cognitive decline is now no longer taboo in the corporate press.
So-called “journalists” openly fret that Joe Biden is too old to run for president in 2024 and that if Biden does run the fact that he is 82 and clearly lost a step means Biden will lose to Donald Trump.
Hillary Clinton is among the many high-profile Democrats rumored to be planning a 2024 campaign in the likely event that Joe Biden does not run for re-election.
But in the interview with the Financial Times Clinton both artfully danced around confirming she is running in 2024 while at the same time dropping enough breadcrumbs to make it clear she is ready to declare her intention to seek the White House for a third time.
The Financial Times asked Clinton if she would challenge Joe Biden in a 2024 primary.
Clinton obviously swatted that suggestion down.
“No, out of the question,” Clinton answered.
“I expect Biden to run. He certainly intends to run. It would be very disruptive to challenge that,” Clinton continued.
But what the Financial Times did not ask and what Hillary Clinton did not rule out was challenging Kamala Harris in 2024 if Joe Biden passed on running for re-election.
In an answer to a question about the Democrats picking unpopular fights on transgenderism Hillary Clinton sounded very much like a presidential candidate.
Clinton told the Financial Tines that loony left-wing ideas on transgenderism and defunding the police cost Democrats elections and that the party would have to steer itself back to the middle if it wanted to win elections again.
“I think that it is a time for some careful thinking about what wins elections, and not just in deep-blue districts where a Democrat and a liberal Democrat, or so-called progressive Democrat, is going to win,” Clinton declared. “I understand why people want to argue for their priorities. That’s what they believe they were elected to do.
“Look, I’m all about having vigorous debate. I think it’s good, and it gives people a chance to be part of the process,” Clinton added. “But, at the end of the day it means nothing if we don’t have a Congress that will get things done, and we don’t have a White House that we can count on to be sane and sober and stable and productive.”
Hillary Clinton is an odd voice to be claiming Democrats veered too far to the left.
Clinton lost in 2016 because she embraced the woke identity politics crusades and open borders agenda of the fringe left.
But Clinton still wants to be president.
And if Joe Biden does not run for re-election Clinton is clearly positioning herself as the Democrat establishment candidate focused on “electability.”
