Before losing the election, Hillary Clinton and the media used virtually every name in the book to insult Trump supporters.
But one of Hillary Clinton’s attacks was a new low, even for the left.
And months after losing the election, she not only refused to apologize for it but doubled down.
One of the most memorable moments from the 2016 campaign was when failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton referred to Donald Trump’s supporter base as a “basket of deplorables.”
In one statement Hillary Clinton blanketed half of the country as deplorable people.
And months after her failed campaign ended, she is telling-all in a new book and media tour.
During a CBS News interview with Jane Pauley, Hillary Clinton stated she called Trump supporters “deplorable” because Trump’s past statements and campaign messaging were deplorable.
She then only offered a slight apology because the comment likely energized Trump supporters, who eventually turned her insult on its head, and used it as a badge of honor to refer to other Trump supporters.
As reported by CBS News:
“There were some memorable verbal gaffes, including when she said at a campaign appearance: “You could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables.”
“Why do you think that word deplorable had been circulating in your mind?” Pauley asked.
“Well, I thought Trump was behaving in a deplorable manner,” Clinton said. “I thought a lot of his appeals to voters were deplorable. I thought his behavior, as we saw on the ‘Access Hollywood’ tape, was deplorable. And there were a large number of people who didn’t care. It did not matter to them. And he turned out to be a very effective reality TV star.”
Clinton says she thinks her rival’s opponents were “already energized” before her “deplorable” comment but conceded: “I’m sorry I gave him a political gift of any kind.”
“It was a gift,” Pauley said.
“I don’t think that was determinative,” Clinton said.”
This wasn’t the only insult she’s dropped on Trump supporters in recent days.
While talking about attending Donald Trump’s inauguration, she called his speech a “cry from the white nationalist gut”, stating:
“And so there I was, on the platform, you know, feeling like an out-of-body experience. And then his speech, which was a cry from the white nationalist gut.”
“He was quite successful in referencing a nostalgia that would give hope, comfort, settle grievances for millions of people who were upset about gains that were made by others,” Clinton said.
Pauley then pressed on: “What you’re saying is millions of white people?”
“Millions of white people, yeah. Millions of white people,” Clinton replied.”
Of course, she was again slanderously trying to claim Trump supporters are racist.
And by blanketing Trump’s entire supporter base as “millions of white people,” she is ignoring the many millions of Trump supporters who are not white.
With her new book coming out soon, more will be known about her deep contempt for Donald Trump and his supporters, and we will keep you updated as new revelations come out.
Do you think Hillary should apologize for her attacks on Trump supporters?
