Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions waded into the impeachment debate.
Many Trump supporters were wondering what Sessions would say in light of the hard feelings that developed between Sessions and the President.
And all hell broke loose when Jeff Sessions spoke out about Trump. He told this truth no one could believe.
Jeff Sessions and John Bolton were considered pillars of the conservative establishment.
Both went to work for President Trump.
Both failed to properly serve the President and were fired.
Now that Bolton rushed to leak the contents of his forthcoming book to the New York Times after the National Security Council said it could not be published unless the mountains of classified information contained in the book were deleted, some pundits were curious to see if Sessions would defend his former ally.
That did not happen.
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart, Sessions trashed Bolton for spilling his guts about President Trump to make a quick buck off a tell-all book.
Breitbart exclusively reported:
“I also think that John Bolton ought not to be writing a book before the ink is dry on his termination as National Security Advisor, and leaking it out to the press,” Sessions said. “National Security Advisor is almost like his White House counsel, like his Attorney General, like his Secretary of Defense, where you have confidential relationships, and you share things with them. And you shouldn’t be blabbing it out there. You have to protect the president’s ability to talk to his staff in a way that is honorable. I feel strongly about that. I don’t think they should be writing these books as soon as they get out of the White House. I just don’t.”
“Bolton told me, he told the American people that he understood it is his responsibility to help the president execute the president’s policies – not John Bolton’s policies,” he said. “He wasn’t elected to be the president of the United States and set foreign policy in the United States. Under our law, only one person has been elected to do that. He is accountable to the public for his own policies, whether they work or not – he has to answer for it. These members of the State Department, the Defense Department and the National Security group do not get to set policy in this country.”
Bolton alienated a number of his former defenders among elected Republicans and the conservative media.
Washington Examiner political reporter Byron York reported one Republican Senator told him that the Republican Senator “hoped he [Bolton] choked on the money.”
Sessions did not suddenly come to see the wisdom of Donald Trump’s position on this issue.
Jeff Sessions is running in a crowded Republican primary field for his old Alabama Senate seat.
If Sessions sides against Trump, or President Trump endorses another candidate, Sessions’ comeback bid is over.
