Fox News alarmed many viewers with a creeping anti-Trump bias during the 2020 election.
President Trump even began promoting competitor networks.
And now Joe Biden and Fox News are set up to have this surprising relationship.
If Joe Biden becomes President on January 20, former Obama hack Jen Psaki will serve as his press secretary.
National Public Radio’s Steve Inskeep interviewed Psaki on how she would conduct herself in that role.
Inskeep pressed Psaki on if Biden would continue the Obama-Biden administration policy of spying on journalists and threatening to charge them under the Espionage Act for publishing stories that Obama and Biden didn’t like based on the claims they illegally disclosed classified information.
“President Obama’s administration aggressively prosecuted leakers of classified information and that spilled over into investigating journalists, obtaining journalists’ phone records, tracking their comings and goings from government agencies. Does this administration mean to do the same?” Inskeep asked.
Psaki did not deny that Joe Biden would continue Barack Obama’s policy of waging war on a free press by threatening to jail journalists for reporting facts that Joe Biden did not want to be public.
“[O]bviously, there are different circumstances, as you well know, that came up during the Obama administration, and a number of those were overseen by the Department of Justice at the time. President-Elect Biden has not even selected an attorney general yet. Believe me, people want to know who it’s going to be. But one of his priorities is returning that department to an independent department, one that does not have political influence from the White House, which will be quite a sea change from our current circumstance. And I suspect those will be questions that a future nominee for that role will be asked in a confirmation hearing,” Psaki responded.
In 2013 the Washington Post broke the story that the Obama Justice Department under Attorney General Eric Holder attacked democracy by spying on Fox News reporter James Rosen and threatening to charge him with sedition after Rosen published a story about North Korea conducting nuclear tests which embarrassed the Obama administration as it proved their policy of strategic patience was a failure.
“They used security badge access records to track the reporter’s comings and goings from the State Department, according to a newly obtained court affidavit. They traced the timing of his calls with a State Department security adviser suspected of sharing the classified report. They obtained a search warrant for the reporter’s personal e-mails,” the Washington Post reported at the time.
Psaki did not rule off jailing Fox News reporters—or reporters for any conservative outlet—that challenged the Obama line in hopes of bullying Fox and other right-leaning outfits into parroting the Obama administration line.
For years so-called “journalists” fell hard on their fainting couches when Donald Trump would merely tweet “enemy of the people” at them.
Those were just words.
The Obama administration threatened to strip the freedom away from journalists by locking them in a government cage for publishing unflattering stories and a potential Joe Biden administration’s press secretary did not deny that Joe Biden would continue this practice.
