Joe Biden’s free ride is over.
The Democrat frontrunner for President just hit his first major crisis.
And Joe Biden confessed his guilt in this career-ending scandal.
When Joe Biden first ran for President over 30 years ago, his 1988 bid crashed and burned after it emerged that Biden plagiarized his speeches from a British politician.
In the next years, Biden did little to elevate himself above the national punch line status.
And now Biden is facing more allegations of plagiarism.
The former Vice President stands accused of lifting entire sections of his climate change and education policy posted on his website from left-wing activist groups.
This crisis rocked Biden’s campaign as his post-announcement bounce began to recede and his poll numbers declined to their pre-launch levels.
Biden’s campaign acknowledged the error and tried to pass it off as a staff error.
“Several citations, some from sources cited in other parts of the plan, were inadvertently left out of the final version of the 22 page document,” a Biden spokesperson told Politico. “As soon as we were made aware of it, we updated to include the proper citations.”
That explanation did not sit well with CNN’s John King.
Democrats can count on a friendly ear and voice at CNN, but on this day, King blasted Biden.
King dismissed Biden’s claim of a staff error since the former Vice President’s campaign team is supposed to be the best of the Democrat best.
“Supposed to be a campaign ‘A-Team,’ this was not an ‘A’ performance,” King stated.
But that wasn’t all.
King went on to savage Biden’s campaign for plagiarizing from a group he should be happy to promote.
“It’s lazy or it’s arrogant,” King added. “You would think he would be happy to quote progressive groups on his website.”
Finally, King blasted Biden for the fact that candidates govern the way they campaign.
If Biden misses the small, easy details as a candidate, then it’s likely his administration will be a chaotic disaster.
“He wants to be President of the United States, this is a leadership and competence issue. You can’t do this stuff. You just can’t,” King concluded.
This was the second misstep for Biden surrounding the rollout of his plan to combat so-called “climate change.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – the queen of the “Green New Deal” – blasted Biden’s plan as a half-measure because it planned to eliminate fossil fuels by 2050.
“Scientifically, anything that is less than helping us cut carbon emissions in half by 2030 is going to be too late,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
“It’s a start, and I think that what that has shown is a dramatic shift in the right direction, but we need to keep pushing for a plan that is at the scale of the problem.”
Biden is getting squeezed on all sides.
The establishment press is ripping him for an avoidable crisis while the activist left is furious he is not embracing full Marxism.
Biden is walking a tight rope in this primary.
And his previous failures as a candidate shows he may not have the stuff to pull this trick off.
