Joe Biden’s campaign just got the kiss of death.
And it came from an endorsement he never wanted to have.
This key Obama official could be the last straw that dooms his campaign.
Joe Biden appears to be in a strong position to win the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in 2020.
But Biden’s enemies are getting ready to slam him from both the left and the right.
Democrats are mad that he’s not liberal enough for them, despite being Barack Obama’s Vice President.
Meanwhile, Biden’s liberal voting record could alienate swing state voters that he needs to peel off from Trump in order to carry enough states to take the White House next year.
And the same voters who flipped from Obama to Trump in 2016 are the sort of people Biden needs to win over.
But now he’s got an endorsement from someone who could throw those plans into disarray.
Breitbart reports, “Valerie Jarrett, one of President Barack Obama’s most trusted aides, believes former Vice President Joe Biden would be a ‘terrific’ president but stopped short of enforcing her former boss’s running mate.”
Valerie Jarrett’s next big move seems to be an attempt to get back into the White House by riding Joe Biden’s coattails.
“I think right now in the Democratic Party we have an embarrassment of riches,” Jarrett told BuzzFeed News in a sit-down interview released Friday. “I think it’s also early and I think in this campaign — unlike President Obama, where I got in very early because I’d known him forever, I was completely willing to jump in — I want to see how they do.”
“It’s a gauntlet, and having now been through two presidential campaigns, I know what it takes to get in there and really earn the trust of the American people, and so I think I’ve talked to many of the candidates,” she said.
“Show us what it is that your vision is but also more importantly or just as importantly how are you going to execute on that vision,” Jarrett added. “What is it that you have in your talent bank that’s going to enable you to deliver on what you say you’re going to do.”
Jarrett previously served as a top adviser in the Obama White House.
And during that time, she was known for her hard-line views against conservatives, once stating that there would be “hell to pay” for Americans who opposed Obama’s re-election bid in 2012.
The quasi-endorsement of Biden could be seen as another attempt by Jarrett to retake political power in Washington.
And it’s also a sign that she’s ready to get involved in the Democratic primary to a larger degree than before.
“Jarrett has also warned candidates against overtly attacking one another, which she worries could leave the Democrat presidential nominee too wounded to take on President Donald Trump in the general election,” adds Breitbart.
“Don’t beat up on the other guys and gals in the race so much that when we emerge from the primary with a nominee that that person is in a weakened state,” Jarrett stated. “Keep your eye on the prize, which is the general election.”
