Joe Biden’s top legislative priority finds itself on life support.
Democrats were blindsided by the latest development.
Joe Biden found out some devastating news that is going to make one reality clear.
Last month, West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin pulled the plug on Joe Biden’s nearly $5 trillion socialist welfare and Green New Deal legislation.
Manchin and Biden could not come to an agreement on the bill after Manchin argued for a smaller socialist spending bill.
Since, Democrats tried to ram the bill through the Senate using the reconciliation process to end-run the GOP filibuster.
But that also means Chuck Schumer can’t lose one vote since the Senate is split 50/50 between Democrats and Republicans.
And no Republican is going to support this legislation.
Democrats and their allies in the corporate media hoped the December recess would wear down Manchin’s objections to the socialist agenda.
However, Manchin returned to Washington with his opposition to the bill intact.
Manchin declared he was done discussing the bill and that he was done discussing party line power grabs that divided the nation.
“I’m really not going to talk about Build Back Better anymore because I think I’ve been very clear on that. There [are] no negotiations going on at this time. OK? There’s an awful lot of things that …were very, I think, well intended. And there was a lot of things that was pretty far reach on some things. And in the most delicate times that we have right now. And our country is divided. And I don’t intend to do anything that divides our country anymore. So whatever I can do, to unite and bring people together. And that means you have to work harder as you work across the aisle to bring people together,” Manchin told reporters.
The Washington translation for Manchin’s comments is that Manchin is through with this bill and it is dead until further notice.
Manchin delivered a fatal blow to Democrats’ 2022 hopes in the first week of the new year.
Polls show Americans give Republicans a lead over Democrats on the question of which party voters prefer in control of Congress.
Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi hoped that ramming this socialist spending package through Congress would boost the party’s chances heading into the midterms.
But Joe Manchin dashed those hopes.
So, Manchin may not have just driven a stake through the crown jewel of Joe Biden’s socialist agenda.
Manchin may have also closed the book on the Democrat majorities in the House of Representatives and Senate by pulling the plug on the centerpiece of Pelosi and Schumer’s plan for a polling rebound.
