Joe Biden’s presidential campaign fell victim to one scandal after another.
This worried Democrats that Biden’s lead in the polls could evaporate at any moment.
And then Joe Biden realized it was all over when Fox News leaked this audio tape.
During the impeachment hoax, President Trump insisted the real quid pro quo was then-Vice President Joe Biden strong-arming then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko into firing prosecutor Viktor Shokin or else losing out on one billion dollars in American aid.
Shokin stated under oath that he had been investigating Burisma – the shady Ukrainian energy company paying Hunter Biden one million dollars a year to sit on its board of directors.
Biden, congressional Democrats and the fake news media claimed President Trump smeared Biden with outlandish claims of corruption.
But new developments vindicated President Trump.
Ukrainian parliament member Andriy Derkach released leaked audio of what he claimed was a conversation between Biden and Poroshenko where the two discussed the deal to fire Shokin.
The audio needed to be authenticated, but on the recording Fox News posted, Biden made it clear that Biden would follow through in his promise to release American aid now that Poroshenko forced out Shokin.
“It’s going to be critical for him to work quickly to repair the damage that Shokin did,” Biden allegedly told Poroshenko in the audio posted on FoxNews.com. “And I’m a man of my word. And now that the new prosecutor general is in place, we’re ready to move forward to signing that new $1 billion loan guarantee. And I don’t know how you want to go about that… I’ll leave it to you to how you want it done and where you want it done.”
Biden and others claimed Shokin was a corrupt prosecutor and that firing Shokin was advancing a pro-America policy.
But on the recording, Poroshenko admits there was no evidence of wrongdoing or corruption on the part of Shokin.
“Yesterday I met with General Prosecutor Shokin, and despite of the fact that we didn’t have any corruption charges, we don’t have any information about him doing something wrong, I specially asked him — no, it was day [sic] before yesterday — I specially asked him to resign in his position as a state person,” Poroshenko allegedly told Biden. “And one hour ago he bring [sic] me the written statement of his resignation. And this is my second step for keeping my promises.”
“I agree,” Biden allegedly said in response.
Many Americans suspected Hunter Biden’s involvement with Burisma and Shokin’s previous investigation into the company played a role in Biden blackmailing Poroshenko into jettisoning Shokin.
This leaked audio only adds fuel to the fire as it undercuts Biden’s central defense which was that Shokin was a corrupt prosecutor.
Voters right now are focused on the coronavirus outbreak.
But once the presidential campaign races to the forefront of their minds, Biden’s corruption and history of scandal could sink his campaign.
