Joe Biden and his Democrat Party allies were getting ready to pop the champagne corks.
Blue state governors kept their states’ economies shut down and the resulting carnage figured to be enough to send Biden to the White House.
But then Joe Biden was speechless when he got his hands on the results of this new poll.
Poll after poll shows Joe Biden leading President Trump in the national popular vote.
In May 2016, every poll also found Hillary Clinton trouncing Donald Trump.
As Democrats learned the hard way, presidential elections are won not in the popular vote, but in the battleground states that decide the Electoral College.
Democrats could be staring a repeat of 2016 dead in the face.
A recent fake news CNN poll showed Joe Biden leading Donald Trump 51 to 46.
But fake news CNN also polled the 15 battleground states that are likely to determine the election.
And in those states, President Trump held a healthy seven-point lead, 52 to 45 percent.
Fake news CNN wrote that younger voters had swung President Trump’s way.
“Though other recent polling has shown some signs of concern for Biden among younger voters and strength among older ones, few have pegged the race as this close among younger voters. The results suggest that younger voters in the battleground states are tilted in favor of Trump, a stark change from the last CNN poll in which battleground voters were analyzed in March, even as other demographic groups shifted to a smaller degree,” fake news CNN wrote about their poll.
Another good sign for the President was his commanding lead on the issue of which candidate voters trusted to handle the economy.
Fake news CNN also wrote that “Trump’s biggest advantage over Biden in the poll comes on his handling of the economy. Most voters, 54%, say they trust the President to better handle the nation’s economy, while 42% say they prefer Biden.”
Due to the government lockdowns, the Trump administration expects unemployment to spike as high as 25 percent in June and for economic growth to contract by negative 40 points in the second quarter.
Voters could decide the election on the basis of which candidate is best suited to lead America out of the economic carnage that China created when it allowed the Wuhan coronavirus to escape its borders.
Joe Biden continues to have problems with young voters because of Tara Reade’s credible allegations of sexual assault.
And many Democrats are just not enthusiastic about his “Weekend at Bernie’s” persona.
The November election figures to be a close race.
Any slight dip in support from a key constituency could cost either candidate the election.
And right now, Joe Biden has the biggest problem in the swing states with young Americans, a voting bloc Democrats thought they locked up long ago.
