Joe Biden is campaigning for president by painting himself as the champion of the average American.
But he’s got a massive skeleton in his closet that proves he’s out of touch with the rest of the country.
And the cat’s finally out of the bag after this massive financial scandal broke.
Joe Biden’s entire pitch for running for president in 2020 is centered around his attempts to portray himself as the “average joe” candidate.
From pretending to be no different than the middle American voters he seeks to win over in both the primary and general election, to trying to win back many of the blue-collar Rust Belt voters that handed Donald Trump the White House in 2016, Biden’s plan to winning in 2020 seems simple.
It’s the same plan that got Bill Clinton and even Barack Obama elected president in 1992 and 2008.
And Biden thinks he can be the third Democrat to do the same thing.
But there’s a massive problem for Biden.
Much like Hillary Clinton before him, Biden is woefully out of touch with the average American.
He doesn’t understand what it’s like to be one of them, and he has no clue about how to connect with them to win over their votes.
And a new financial scandal that just broke reveals just how out of touch he really is with the average American.
The Hill reports, “Former Vice President Joe Biden has reportedly pocketed millions in income since exiting the Obama administration.”
For a man who likes to paint himself as the average joe candidate, Biden has been taking in hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees since leaving office, using his decades of political influence as a US Senator and as Vice President to make himself filthy rich.
When the news broke, it became clear that “public documents revealed Biden’s speaking fees sometimes cost as much as $200,000,” according to The Hill.
“Biden’s sponsors provided VIP hotel suites, town cars and drivers, chartered flights and travel reimbursements for some of his appearances across the country in the run up to his presidential campaign announcement. According to the Post, some of those appearances totaled at least $10,000 per event,” adds The Hill.
No man can take $200,000 in speaking fees and claim to understand the needs of the average American.
And yet Biden has constructed his entire campaign around doing just that.
His public persona is crumbling around him now.
And Biden can’t put the genie back into the bottle.
With both Democrats and Republicans attacking him from all sides, it may only be a matter of time before his campaign falls apart.
And the revelation that he’s been taking in hundreds of thousands of dollars in closed-door speaking fees while also claiming to be the candidate who can most connect with the middle class could be the final straw that breaks the camel’s back.
Do you think Biden should return the money he’s made from selling his political influence?
