The left continues to try and delegitimize Donald Trump’s victory.
First they leaned on Hillary’s meaningless popular vote victory to undermine his win. Now they have settled on pressing the conspiracy theory that the Russians interfered to steal the election.
And John McCain just jumped in with both feet to back up the Democrats and betray Donald Trump.
McCain has joined with incoming Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in calling for an investigation into Russia’s election related activities.
He even took it one step further during an interview on CBS by demanding a select committee – similar to the one Trey Gowdy chaired on Benghazi – to be convened.
Politico reports:
“GOP Sen. John McCain called for forming a select committee on Sunday to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election.
“I would like, in an ideal world, to have a select committee,” the Arizona Republican told John Dickerson on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”
But McCain acknowledged that garnering enough support to create a select committee — the same type of committee that investigated, among other things, Watergate and the Benghazi attacks — would take time. In the meantime, McCain said, he would ask Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) to chair a subcommittee of the Senate Armed Services to investigate the Russian interference, “along with a really smart Democrat.”
“We’ll go to work on it,” McCain said. “We’ll go to work immediately.”
Many conservatives argue McCain is reverting to his liberal type where he plays to the cheers of the left-wing press.
He already admitted there is no evidence tying Russia to influencing the election for one particular candidate.
The Hill reports:
“Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said it’s clear Russian hackers interfered with the U.S. presidential election but that there is “no information” about whether it was done to help President-elect Donald Trump.
“It’s obvious that the Russians hacked into our campaigns,” McCain said in a Reuters interview Monday.
“But there is no information that they were intending to affect the outcome of the election, and that’s why we need a congressional investigation.”
The FBI also reached a similar conclusion during the campaign.
But the Washington Post published a highly controversial report – and oddly also admitted there is no direct evidence tying the Russian government to the hackers who released emails to WikiLeaks – saying Russia intended to help Trump win.
The left seized on this fact-free report as the basis for their campaign to undermine Trump’s win.
And McCain has joined their campaign to destroy confidence in the American electoral system as well as the nation’s duly elected President, Donald Trump.
There is no direct evidence trying Russia to the sites that posted hacked emails.
There is also zero evidence of any voting machine hacks or any other underhanded tactics that affected vote totals.
Trump’s win was 100% above board, but McCain and the Democrats are working hand-in-hand to destroy the public perception Trump is America’s rightfully elected President.
So why is McCain pursuing this course of action?
Some argue it’s because, at heart, he is most comfortable when hearing cheers from the left-wing press.
The media hates Trump, so the easiest way to get in their good graces is to oppose the President-elect.
Others note that McCain is war hawk.
Trump campaigned on building a relationship with Russia to effectively defeat ISIS.
Any conflict with Russia would be averted if President-elect Trump is able to implement the foreign policy he campaigned on.
McCain has called the Russian cyber attacks an “act of war” which demands a “proportional response.”
Could McCain and his fellow war hawks be trying to push America into another costly foreign conflict?
