Barack Obama has broken away from the tradition of other Presidents and remained politically involved after leaving office.
He has made it clear that he’s not a fan of President Trump.
And a newly released letter proves that Obama is working to take down Trump.
The 2018 midterm elections are being touted as the proving ground for President Trump.
If he does well, it will show that he has held onto his base of support.
If Democrats take back the House and Senate it will send a clear message that the American people are not pleased with the President.
Barack Obama is directly involved in making sure that President Trump does poorly.
But the extent of his involvement wasn’t well known until just this week.
Earlier this week, a letter announcing a Beverly Hills fundraiser for Missouri Democrat Senator Claire McCaskill was released.
The letter announces that former President Barack Obama will be in attendance, and will speak.
Claire McCaskill is one of the most vulnerable Democrats up in the November midterms.
Virtually every poll shows that she should lose.
But Democrats are hoping Trump supporters turn on the President and support Democrats in 2018.
If McCaskill is re-elected it will mean bad news for President Trump, and Barack Obama knows that.
As reported by Politico:
“Former President Barack Obama will appear at a Beverly Hills fundraiser for Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) in May, according to an invitation obtained by POLITICO — a sign Obama is edging into the midterm elections.
Obama is listed as a special guest at the May 6 fundraiser hosted by film studio executive Jeffrey Katzenberg, filmmaker Steven Spielberg and others Los Angeles-area heavyweights, including director J.J. Abrams and his wife, Katie McGrath. This is his first post-presidential fundraising event for an individual candidate — and it goes to the female senator who very notably backed him early over Hillary Clinton in 2008.
No admission price was listed on the invitation, which was paid for by McCaskill 2018 Victory — a joint fundraising committee for McCaskill, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Missouri Democratic State Committee.
McCaskill is one of the most vulnerable Senate Democrats seeking reelection this year. She will likely face Republican state Attorney General Josh Hawley.”
Barack Obama is getting in the thick of the political game leading up to the 2020 election.
The 2018 midterms are very relevant when forecasting the 2020 elections.
Barack Obama was obliterated in his first term midterm election, and many speculate that if he had run against a Republican with more with appeal in 2012 he would have lost.
The same could happen to President Trump.
If a Democrat with wide appeal runs against him in 2020, it could be the end of his time as President.
But the first step for Democrats to decide how hard to push is by forecasting with the 2020 elections.
Do you think that Donald Trump will be re-elected in 2020?
