Liz Cheney’s political career ended in humiliating fashion.
Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman crushed Cheney by 37 points in the GOP primary.
And now Liz Cheney heard two words from Fox News that will drive her crazy.
Liz Cheney finished her career as an elected official in typical fashion – as an arrogant, delusional, glory hound.
After losing her race by 37 points, Cheney offered up a concession speech that was really a declaration of war on the Republican Party displaying a complete lack of self-awareness.
Republican voters soundly rejected Cheney after Cheney spent 18 months acting like Nancy Pelosi’s personal stooge by first voting for the post-January 6 committee and then serving as Pelosi’s Republican on the January 6 committee.
Despite this humiliating rejection by Republican voters in a state Cheney pretended to hail from – she really lives in Virginia – Cheney took to the stage and compared herself to Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War.
“The great and original champion of our party, Abraham Lincoln, was defeated in elections for the Senate and the House before he won the most important election of all,” Cheney rambled. “Lincoln ultimately prevailed, he saved our union, and he defined our obligation as Americans for all of history.
“Speaking at Gettysburg of the great task remaining before us, Lincoln said that, ‘We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from this earth.’ As we meet here tonight, that remains our greatest and most important task,” Cheney added.
“The Five” co-host Greg Gutfeld ridiculed Cheney’s delusional speech comparing losing an election to a war where 600,000 Americans died.
After calling Cheney “nuts” the popular Fox News host told the soon-to-be former congresswoman to “calm down.”
“She compared this to the Civil War,” Gutfeld stated. “She is nuts, ok? She’s overtaken with such obsession and such emotional bitterness that she has this grandiose view of herself and it’s actually now getting embarrassing. It’s embarrassing for her. I wish he had a friend that could take her aside saying, ‘You’ve got to calm down.’”
Gutfeld explained that Cheney’s single-minded hatred of Donald Trump left her isolated in politics as Democrats were not going to turn out to save her and Republicans grew to despise Cheney over her preening on CNN and other corporate media outlets relentlessly attacking Donald Trump.
In closing, Gutfeld noted that it was Cheney’s inability to move on and leave the past behind that ultimately ended her career.
“Republicans hate you, Democrats don’t want you, this all driven by emotional brokenness that happened from Trump,” Gutfeld continued. “People say that Trump has an ego, but when he says stuff like that, it’s usually with a wink and then everybody’s laughing. There’s nothing in her eye but spite. It’s such a personal vendetta from day one.
“Somebody needs to pull her back and go, ‘Look, everybody moved on except for you. It’s time,’” Gutfeld concluded.
