Under Trump’s leadership, peace in North Korea seems to be within grasp.
In recent weeks, North Korea has been open to talking with the United States and South Korea.
But with one surprise meeting, everything just changed when it comes to North Korea.
One of the big differences between former President Obama and current President Trump is that Trump follows through on his word.
When he announced that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was going to meet with Korean leaders to negotiate the release of three men held captive in North Korea, he followed through.
At the end of Pompeo’s visit to North Korea, President Trump announced that he successfully negotiated their release, and that they were on their way back to the United States.
And very early Thursday morning they did return, with President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence greeting them on the tarmac.
This new development truly changes everything when it comes to North Korea.
It shows that North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un is serious about cooperating with President Trump.
World leaders have commended Trump for his leadership in dealing with North Korea.
Despite so many “experts” claiming that the Presidents harsh tactics in his first year were detrimental when it comes to dealing with North Korea, they are working.
Kim Jong Un realized that Trump was not like Obama, and that he wasn’t going to mess around when it comes to negotiating.
As reported by Fox News:
“Three American prisoners held in North Korea have been released and are en route to the U.S. after a surprise diplomatic mission by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, President Trump announced Wednesday.
Pompeo is returning with the Americans, said to be in “good health,” after a brief visit to Pyongyang. Trump said he plans to greet them at Andrews Air Force Base when they arrive outside Washington.
“I am pleased to inform you that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in the air and on his way back from North Korea with the 3 wonderful gentlemen that everyone is looking so forward to meeting,” Trump tweeted, referring to the prisoners. “They seem to be in good health.”
Pompeo told reporters during the initial leg of the flight to Japan that he’s “thrilled” to have the Americans back. Trump also said that a date and location have now been set for his meeting with Kim Jong Un, later telling reporters that it would not be at the Korean Demilitarized Zone.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement that Trump “appreciates leader Kim Jong Un’s action to release these American citizens, and views this as a positive gesture of goodwill.”
“The three Americans appear to be in good condition and were all able to walk on the plane without assistance,” she said.
Pompeo arrived in North Korea on Tuesday to prepare for the upcoming summit between the two leaders. Trump, announcing Pompeo’s visit, had hinted at the possibility of the prisoners’ release.”
Trump has made monumental strides towards peace in North Korea.
The three prisoners being released and returned to the United States prove that.
