NBC’s Megyn Kelly has stepped on a landmine once again.
She returned to the scene of her biggest failure since joining NBC.
And Kelly ended up embarrassing herself in the most awful way.
Kelly reacted on her show to the news that family members of the Sandy Hook shooting victims were filing a defamation lawsuit against conservative talk show host Alex Jones.
Jones alleged that some of the parents were crisis actors when they appeared on video after the horrific tragedy.
This was not true and Jones walked-back those remarks before an interview with Kelly last summer.
But that did not stop Kelly from trying to pile on Jones during an appearance on MSNBC.
The Daily Caller reports:
“NBC host Megyn Kelly went after Alex Jones on MSNBC Wednesday, saying the conspiracy theorist hasn’t learned “his lesson” since their interview in 2017.
“The point of this lawsuit is to stop it–to stop it–once and for all,” Kelly said. “The point of our speaking to Alex Jones was to expose him for the, untethered conspiracy theorist that he is and he clearly hasn’t learned his lesson, because even in response to that, he continues with the nonsense and the lies to the detriment of the Newtown families.”
Kelly also said, “It’s about time someone tried to hold him accountable in the courts.”
Jones is being sued by parents of children killed in the Sandy Hook shooting.
Jones has made conspiracy claims about the shooting before, saying that it was fake. He later tried to walk back such claims, saying he was playing “devil’s advocate.”
But Kelly’s interview with Jones last summer sent her career into a downward spiral.
Liberal media members were drooling over the prospect of Kelly taking down a high profile and successful Trump supporter in the alternative media.
Instead, they had a calm discussion where Jones made his points.
But Jones’ left-wing critics wanted blood.
And when they didn’t see Kelly gut Jones like a fish on national television, they turned on her.
The negative reviews poured in and it killed Kelly’s chances of building a relationship with liberal viewers.
Conservatives already distrusted Kelly since she personally tried to smear Donald Trump at the first GOP Presidential debate.
Kelly ended up as a television host without an audience.
Her Sunday news magazine program was yanked from the schedule, and her morning talk show has bombed in the ratings.
Kelly could be trying to kiss and make up with liberal viewers by forcefully attacking Jones now, but it will likely be too little too late.
