Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is one of the leading Republican contenders for president.
DeSantis is in the middle of a soft rollout of his eventual campaign.
And now Megyn Kelly revealed the one thing Ron DeSantis is afraid of.
Ron DeSantis makes a practice of avoiding the fake news media.
Conservatives like DeSantis learned during the Trump era that the activists in the press are maniacal left-wing partisans out to destroy Republicans and boost Democrats.
But is DeSantis extending his media ban too far?
Megyn Kelly seems to think so.
At the National Review Institute’s Ideas Summit Kelly said DeSantis rejected invitations to appear on her show.
Kelly said she could not understand that as “there would be absolutely no reason not to come to me,” Kelly said, adding that her show is “not MSNBC and he knows it.”
Kelly added that the audience she attracts is one DeSantis needs to speak to in a general election saying that her audience spans the ideological divide from the right to some “center-lefties.”
In the most controversial part of her question-and-answer session Kelly claimed the only reason DeSantis would not appear on her show is because he is afraid.
But Kelly explained DeSantis has nothing to fear as Kelly is not out to make DeSantis look bad and only wants to give him a platform to share his views.
“There’s no reason and I just think he’s afraid and he has no reason to be because there’s nothing I would ask him about that I know more about than he does,” Kelly continued.
Kelly said right now DeSantis is sticking to well-established conservative media and “only speaking to hardcore right supporters,” to which Kelly theorized is because “he’s a little timid.”
This was a mistake, Kelly went on to say, because she is an undecided voter and Kelly would be just as tough on DeSantis as she would be on Donald Trump.
“If he comes to somebody like me, who’s an actual journalist — I’m not a hater, my vote is gettable — what’s he going to do? I’m not going to give him a pass just like I didn’t give [former president] Trump a pass,” Kelly added.
Kelly did close with some words of warning telling the crowd that she hears from many Trump supporters saying that the more seriously DeSantis attacks Donald Trump the less likely they are to vote for DeSantis in a general election matchup against Joe Biden.
“The harder DeSantis makes it for Trump, the angrier I get at him,” Kelly recounted.
But Kelly said that “Trump or nothing” attitude is dangerous because if Trump supporters do not unite behind DeSantis — or if DeSantis voters do not rally behind Trump if Trumps wins — then Joe Biden will win a second term.
“You can’t get sucked into the belief that just because you love DeSantis and you’re done with Trump that the country is done with Trump,” Kelly concluded.
