Megyn Kelly is back.
The controversial former Fox News Channel anchor returned from exile after NBC fired her.
And Megyn Kelly just told this one devastating secret about Donald Trump that will leave you speechless.
As part of Megyn Kelly’s comeback bid, Kelly is trying to position herself as a truth-teller willing to call out both sides.
NBC hired Kelly because they perceived Kelly to be a Trump critic after their famous feud during the 2016 election.
But liberal NBC colleagues resented the fact that Kelly worked for Fox News and Kelly was never accepted inside NBC or by its left-wing viewers.
Now that Kelly is striking out on her own and trying to build her own news brand, Kelly is trying to rehab her image with conservatives.
As part of that image makeover, Kelly sat for an interview with PBS’s “Frontline” program as part of the show’s two part documentary “America’s Great Divide: From Obama to Trump.”
Kelly spoke to the criticism that the fake news media propelled Trump to the GOP nomination by airing all his rally speeches live and uninterrupted.
PBS and Kelly cited the famous “empty podium” coverage where fake news CNN was so dedicated to covering Trump that they aired footage of the podium he delivered his speeches from while everyone waited for Trump to speak.
Kelly noted it was not just fake news CNN that went all-in on covering Trump in 2016.
MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” contributed to what some experts estimated was the media providing Trump with two billion dollars worth of free advertising during the primary by letting Trump appear for phone interviews whenever he felt like to speak for as long as Trump wanted.
“And not just CNN, MSNBC, the morning show over there now hates Trump’s guts and every day they’re out there attacking him,” Kelly explained. “But they were part of the reason he became the Republican nominee. Joe Scarborough and Mika [Brzezinski], they loved Trump, they promoted Trump every day.” Kelly told PBS that she could not understand why Scarborough and Brzezinski turned their show over to Trump. “Wow, what is it about Trump that got them on board so early?”
Kelly theorized that Trump’s friendship with media figures – such as Scarborough and Brzezinski – that Trump developed over years as a reality TV star and business mogul allowed him to receive positive press when he first entered the race.
“Trump was very good at cultivating relationships. And trust me, he tried to cultivate a relationship with me too, but I was a journalist and I understood that I needed to keep him at arm’s length.”
Kelly also believed CNN and MSNBC thought they could profit from Trump.
“He boosted their ratings, he boosted CNN’s ratings,” Kelly stated. “It wasn’t just Fox & Friends,” she says. “The Today show was allowing a presidential candidate to do a phoner once a week. Because he rates. It’s mercenary.”
Of course, there is another reason fake news CNN and MSNBC relentlessly promoted Trump in the GOP primary.
Those pro-Democrat propaganda outfits believed Trump was the weakest GOP candidate in the field and they tried to help the Democrats by tilting their coverage in Trump’s favor by pumping up his candidacy.
That blew up in their faces when it turned out Trump was leading a movement of Americans furious with the establishment.
It was the first – but not the last time – the fake news media would underestimate Donald Trump.
