Megyn Kelly is no stranger to controversy.
The former Fox News and NBC anchor shot to stardom by feuding with Donald Trump during the 2016 Presidential election.
But she just kicked it up a notch with this tweet that ignited one of the biggest controversies of her career.
The American media suffered the complete and total loss of their remaining credibility over one 24-hour period.
First, special counsel Robert Mueller’s office shot down a Buzzfeed story that claimed Mueller held evidence Trump directed Michael Cohen to lie under oath to Congress.
Several so-called journalists claimed reporters needed to speculate less about unconfirmed reports and wait for all the facts to come out.
It took just hours to show that no one in the media took that advice seriously.
Over the weekend, fake news reporters latched onto a video they claimed showed a group of boys from Covington Catholic High School – many of whom wore Trump hats – encircling 85-year-old Vietnam veteran and Native American activist, Nathan Phillips, and taunting him with racially motivated slurs.
But the story soon collapsed.
The full video of events showed the boys were the victims.
Black nationalists taunted them with racial and homophobic slurs.
And it was Phillips who initiated the confrontation by forcing his way into the group of students and jamming his drum in one of their faces.
The “journalists” who promoted the story failed to wait for the full context.
In fact, the twitter account that originally pushed the viral video – 2020fights – was under the control of a Brazilian blogger as part of an information warfare campaign.
Twitter suspended the account – which claimed to be a California teacher named Talia – that had been pushing out 100 tweets a day targeting liberals with hyper-partisan news and misinformation.
Voices across conservative media condemned fake news reporters for promoting this story without knowing all the facts.
Of course, so-called “mainstream” media reporters found it easy to believe this story because they believe all white, Christian, Trump-supporting males are racist and potential school shooters.
But a surprising voice echoed the line of media criticism.
Megyn Kelly blasted the media for their “shoot first, aim later” style of “reporting.”
Kelly tweeted,
“Media rush to jdgmt in Covington is typical & dangerous. Pundits/journos now feel the need to immed attack those accused of bad behavior as a means of proving said pundits are virtuous (as if it’s about them). Maybe instead of piling on, they shld 1st ascertain WHAT’S GOING ON.”
Media observers were stunned by Kelly’s media criticism.
Kelly ripping news outlets and their reporters for their bias sent a signal that she did not think her future belonged in the legacy media.
In fact, they thought it was another sign that Kelly wanted back in at Fox News.
Do you think Megyn Kelly is trying to get her old job at Fox News back?
