Michelle Obama continues to lob pot shots at Donald Trump.
The former First Lady refuses to give one inch of understanding to the new President.
But in one recent interview, she really crossed the line with her reaction to the President’s State of the Union speech.
The media loves to paint this picture of President Trump as “divisive.”
But in reality, they are projecting their own hatred of the President and his supporters on them.
The reaction to the State of the Union is a perfect example.
Polls showed that Americans overwhelmingly supported the President’s message.
A CBS poll found that 81 percent of Americans who watched the speech thought President Trump was trying to unite the country.
To hear Michelle Obama tell it however, the speech was a depressing recitation of the post-apocalyptic America Trump is presiding over.
In a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she reacted to the President’s hopeful State of the Union speech with despair.
She described America as under siege and claimed “hope” was what would get us all through the Trump Presidency.
“All we have is hope,” the former first lady says in a preview clip from Thursday’s “Ellen” show. Obama’s sit-down with host Ellen DeGeneres marks her first TV interview since leaving the White House last year.
“People are afraid, but then there are people who feel good about the direction of the country, so I mean, that’s what makes this country complicated because it’s made up of so many different people from different backgrounds,” Obama tells DeGeneres, when asked what advice she’d give people who find the world to be a “scary place right now.”
“The thing I learned in the eight years that I was in the White House is that what we do every day in our lives, the good things that we do every day — and we know we do it: we show empathy, we care for each other, you know, we do have a lot in common,” says Obama. “That’s what it means to lead with hope and not fear.”
“I would just encourage your viewers, the country, to do the things we do every day: to love each other, to take care of each other, to show empathy — and you can’t do that only when people make you feel good or safe,” the 54-year-old Obama said, without mentioning President Trump. “We’ve got to do it all across the board.”
“We have to be an open-hearted nation and that’s who we are,” she added.
“So, let’s just keep living our lives like that every single day and forget what they’re saying in Washington. That’s not necessarily who we are. We know who we are.”
Rather than encouraging Americans to see all the good in the country, she played to the fears of those who oppose Trump by pushing them to believe the Trump administration was a storm to be ridden out.
The President laid out a vision of unity based on everyone being able to share in the good fortune created by the booming economy.
Michelle Obama – and other liberals – are committed to denying Trump any credit for that, so they paint a picture of a fearful America where immigrants, minorities and women are the targets of bullying by Trump’s government.
It just isn’t true.
They claim Trump is “divisive” when – in fact – it is the left pitting Americans against one another.
