Mike Pence looks like he is back in the game.
But one question still remains.
Mike Pence answered it with this jaw-dropping decision on how he will deal with Donald Trump.
The former vice president is making public appearances and dropping hints about his political future.
Pence’s latest speech in New Hampshire made it clear that he would like to run for president in 2024.
The big unknown is how he will handle his time in the Trump administration while trying to establish his own identity.
Pence test-drove one approach at the Hillsborough County Lincoln-Reagan Awards Dinner.
In his speech, Pence latched on to the accomplishments from the Trump administration while bashing what he stated was the leftward lurch of the Biden administration.
“So buckle up. I mean 134 days, and the Biden-Harris administration has launched an avalanche of big government liberal policies, the likes of which I’ve never even imagined I’d see in our lifetime, and all of it designed to derail the progress that we made over the last four years,” Pence stated.
Pence tried to compare the bipartisan votes on coronavirus relief bills during Trump’s time in office to the party line vote on Biden’s first ”stimulus” package to try and demonstrate Biden was not following through on his pledge of unity.
“Our administration worked in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic in a bipartisan way. Every bill that passed through Congress passed on a bipartisan basis,” Pence stated. “They forced through the Congress a COVID bill to fund massive expansion of the welfare state. They passed it on a partisan vote.” He lamented, “It’s amazing the difference of approach.”
Pence laced into what’s gone on since Biden took over as being that “the Biden administration and Democrats in Washington have been pushing open borders, higher taxes, runaway spending, more government, defunding the police, abandoning the right to life, censoring free speech, [and] canceling our most cherished liberties.”
The former vice president also claimed Biden campaigned as a moderate, but governed in a manner that pleased Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
“In 2020, you remember Joe Biden was campaigning as a moderate when he campaigned, but he’s literally governed as the most liberal president since FDR,” Pence told the crowd.
“Even AOC said that President Biden had quote ‘exceeded progressives’ expectations,’ and that’s saying a lot,” Pence added. “But I don’t believe for one moment that that’s what the American people voted for in 2020.”
Pence claimed this was not the agenda the American people voted for.
“They didn’t vote to open our borders, to give away safety of our streets, our prosperity, or our freedom, or our future, so I want to say again, coming here to New Hampshire tonight, it’s time,” Pence declared. “It’s time for freedom-loving Americans to stand up and say, ‘No more.’ It’s time for freedom-loving Americans to unite behind an agenda that will bring America back.”
Pence’s 2024 strategy was on full display.
The former vice president hopes to court Trump supporters by downplaying the controversy surrounding the end of the Trump administration while courting the larger pool of Republicans by bashing Joe Biden.
