When Mike Pence broke with Donald Trump, everyone thought that was the end of his political career.
Now everyone knows the answer.
Mike Pence took a surprising new job that dropped a big hint about his 2024 plans.
Former Vice President Pence announced a new podcast with the conservative youth organization Young America’s Foundation.
Young America’s Foundation wrote:
Young America’s Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the American Freedom podcast, Vice President Mike Pence’s newest project to promote and advance freedom across the nation.
The first episode of the podcast, titled “20 Years Later, We Will Never Forget,” will feature interviews with four young Americans at the forefront of the movement to #NeverForget the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
As schools and public officials nationwide attempt to sanitize and forget the tragic 9/11 attacks, Vice President Pence is using the 20th anniversary of that horrific day as an opportunity to ensure the next generation understands what the day means to the nation and the lasting impact it has created.
Podcasts are a popular form of entertainment for younger Americans.
Pence starting a new podcast is a clear sign that he has political ambitions.
This podcast will allow Pence to reach younger conservatives and keep his name involved in politics.
Pence needs the boost.
Polls show that should Donald Trump not run for president, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is the clear favorite for the 2024 GOP nomination.
Of course, if Donald Trump runs in2024 the nomination is his and Pence – as well as DeSantis and virtually every other Republican outside of one or two Never Trump dead-enders – will pass on the race.
Normally the vice president that served under a president popular with his party would start any campaign as the frontrunner because of his ability to draw support from both the grassroots and establishment wings of the party.
But Pence alienated himself from Trump and a swath of Trump’s base when Pence counted the results of the Electoral College on January 6 and confirmed Joe Biden’s win.
Trump argued Pence could have rejected the results from states that Trump claimed fraud tainted.
Pence pointed to the Constitution and told the president he had no such authority.
At that point Trump attacked Pence for lacking courage.
In subsequent interviews Trump declined to name Pence as a future leader of the Republican Party.
Should Trump not run for president and Pence launches a White House bid, Trump will criticize Pence and work to make sure Pence does not win the nomination.
Pence could be trying to expand his base of support ahead of this expected onslaught with his new podcast.
