The Monica Lewinsky scandal still haunts Bill and Hillary Clinton to this day.
And rumors are floating around that Hillary could make a third run for the White House in 2020.
But Monica Lewinsky just turned the Clintons life upside down with this bombshell revelation.
Monica Lewinsky Says She Would Still Apologize To Hillary Clinton
Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky almost destroyed his Presidency.
Congress impeached him after they discovered he had lied under oath about his relationship with the White House intern.
Clinton survived, but the damage was already done.
His sex scandals haunted both of Hillary Clinton’s failed White House bids.
But the more things change, the more they stay the same.
2018 is the 20th anniversary of the Lewinsky scandal.
Lewinsky sat for 20 hours worth of interviews for a documentary entitled “The Clinton Affair.”
For her part, Lewinsky explained in Vanity Fair why she sat for the documentary.
She wrote that when Bill Clinton famously lied about “not having sexual relations with that woman,” people began demonizing her:
Forty-five-year-old me sees that footage very differently. I see a sports coach signposting the playbook for the big game. Instead of backing down amid the swirling scandal and telling the truth, Bill instead threw down the gauntlet that day in the Oval Office: “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.” With that, the demonization of Monica Lewinsky began. As it so often does, power throws a protective cape around the shoulders of the man, and he dictates the spin by denigrating the less powerful woman.
Lewinsky wrote that when she was 24 and watched Clinton falsely claim he never had a relationship with her, she was worried for Clinton’s future.
She claimed she did not want him to resign.
Clinton Documentary Airs As Rumors Of Another Hillary Campaign Swirl
Former Clinton aides Mark Penn and Andrew Stein just penned a Wall Street Journal op-ed explaining their belief that Clinton will run again.
They claimed:
Get ready for Hillary Clinton 4.0. More than 30 years in the making, this new version of Mrs. Clinton, when she runs for president in 2020, will come full circle—back to the universal-health-care-promoting progressive firebrand of 1994. True to her name, Mrs. Clinton will fight this out until the last dog dies. She won’t let a little thing like two stunning defeats stand in the way of her claim to the White House.
While the fake news media tried to dismiss this as just two former Clinton staffers trying to make a name for themselves, Hillary has not thrown cold water on questions about her Presidential ambitions.
In late October she said she would like to be President.
She also didn’t shoot down the suggestion when she sat for a podcast interview earlier in the fall.
But the Lewinsky piece should serve as a reminder of why Clinton cannot win.
In the #MeToo era, too many base Democrat voters realize Bill Clinton sexually abused women.
They will stay home before they reward the Clintons with another term in the White House.
Lewinsky drove home this point when she ripped Clinton’s suggestion that he did not owe her an apology.
She wrote in Vanity Fair:
So, what feels more important to me than whether I am owed or deserving of a personal apology is my belief that Bill Clinton should want to apologize. I’m less disappointed byhim, and more disappointed for him. He would be a better man for it . . . and we, in turn, a better society.
