Nancy Pelosi is leading the Democrats into a fight with Donald Trump that could define the terrain for the 2020 Presidential election.
But Speaker Pelosi just made this giant mistake.
That’s because Nancy Pelosi said the four words that blew up her career for good.
The Trump administration was all set to launch ICE raids this week targeting 2,000 families that had received deportation orders but skipped their court proceedings.
Trump supporters believe acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan – who is a Barack Obama supporter – leaked details of the raid to sabotage the Trump administration.
By feeding details of the operation to the press, McAleenan hamstrung the ability of ICE to carry out the deportation raids since now the targets were tipped off.
President Trump announced he was postponing the raids for two weeks after a phone call with Nancy Pelosi to give Congress time to pass legislation ending the open borders loopholes in the asylum laws that act as a magnet for illegal immigration.
“At the request of Democrats, I have delayed the Illegal Immigration Removal Process (Deportation) for two weeks to see if the Democrats and Republicans can get together and work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border. If not, Deportations start!” the President announced on Twitter.
Speaker Pelosi appeared at an immigration event in New York and went into depth about her conversation with the President.
It ended up being one of the worst decisions of Pelosi’s life.
In her remarks, Pelosi called into question the entire practice of enforcing immigration laws.
“What is the point?” Pelosi asked.
“When I saw that the president was going to have these raids, it was so appalling, it’s outside the circle of civilized human behavior to just be kicking down doors, splitting up families, and the rest of that, in addition to injustices that are happening at the border, we have legislation to go forward to address those needs. But in terms of interior enforce, what is the purpose? What is the point?” Pelosi exclaimed.
“I won’t even go into what the motivation might be for that here because this is not a political event,” the Speaker of the House added.
To throw even more gasoline on the fire, Pelosi claimed President Trump was scaring small children.
Pelosi continued, “When I spoke to the president I said look I’m a mom. I have five kids, 9 grandchildren and children are scared. You’re scaring the children of America, not just in those families but their neighbors and their communities. You’re scaring the children.”
Speaker Pelosi’s extremism on the issue shocked many Americans.
Pelosi was the first member of the Democrats leadership structure to explicitly say no illegal alien should ever be deported.
That is the true definition of open borders.
Pelosi’s remarks also hinted that this is the stance the eventual 2020 Democrat nominee will adopt.
And that could prove fatal in the General Election.
