Being Speaker of the House is the number one goal for Nancy Pelosi.
And with Democrats winning back the House, she is hoping to take back the Speaker’s Chair.
But that may not happen after she was smacked with the worst news ever.
Midterm Election Results And Nancy Pelosi
The midterm election brought good and bad news to Democrats.
They lost ground in the Senate, which was extremely surprising.
But they did win back the House.
And it means that Nancy Pelosi can take the Speaker’s Chair yet again.
But while many expect that to happen, Pelosi is becoming less sure.
Many new members of Congress are to the far-left of Nancy Pelosi.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the most notable of those.
Andit is possible those further on the left will oppose Pelosi.
In fact, that likelihood just got higher after Pelosi’s latest moves.
Pelosi Goes Into Fight Mode
Pelosi is mounting a full campaign to regain her spot as Speaker.
She is taking nothing for granted.
And she has good reason not to.
A number of Democrats are making it clear they oppose her and that new leadership is necessary.
It’s not hard to see why.
President Trump is in office and implementing his agenda.
Democrats are not gaining much ground opposing him.
And Pelosi is the closest thing to a leader the party has.
With none of the Democrats’ goals being met, it isn’t surprising she is facing attacks.
It is unclear who will replace her if she can’t secure enough votes.
Soon to be former Rep. Joe Crowley is most likely to take on Pelosi.
But he is not serving another term after his defeat at the hands of Ocasio-Cortez.
So despite Ocasio-Cortez being no friend to Pelosi, she may be a better alternative for her in the end.
But she will unlikely have much power due to her far-left views.
Will Pelosi Be Taken Down?
It is unclear if anybody will be able to take down Pelosi.
At this point, they don’t even have a challenger.
But that is going to change soon.
Whoever it is, they will be even more left than Pelosi.
Compared to many of her younger colleagues, she is considered moderate.
The Democrat Party has been shifting farther left the last few years.
This makes Pelosi a stale party leader.
Going into 2020, whoever is Speaker of the House will be leading the Democrat Party’s platform in the Presidential election.
It is their most important task.
And if they don’t succeed in winning the White House, they will likely never recover.
