Nancy Pelosi is about to exit Congress for good.
As Democrats look on track to lose control of the House of Representatives, all eyes are on Pelosi’s next move.
And she just made one shocking announcement about her retirement plans.
Nancy Pelosi likely won’t be in Congress for much longer.
After years of growing frustration within the Democratic Caucus in Congress over her leadership style, control over the party, stock-trading habits, and her age, Pelosi is now facing even more pressure to step aside in the wake of a devastating midterm loss that Democrats suffered in early November.
And now, with Democrats looking like they lost their majority in the House of Representatives, her days in Congress appear to finally be coming to an end.
The Hill reports, “Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in a new interview said the attack on her husband, Paul Pelosi, will affect the decision she makes of whether to retire from Congress should Democrats lose control of the House in Tuesday’s midterm elections.”
“I have to say my decision will be affected about what happened the last week or two,” Pelosi told CNN during a recent interview.
The recent attack on Pelosi’s husband has also provided even more motivation for her to step aside from her leadership role in the Democratic Party and bow out of Congress.
Not only is she one of the least popular political figures in Washington, D.C. today, but she is an excellent target for Republicans to point to when it comes to identifying how radical the Left has become in recent years.
And as long as Pelosi is in power, she will continue to serve as a tool for Republicans to raise money and motivate voters to turn out against Democrats.
The Democrats know this too, and they are worried that if they keep Pelosi around for much longer, she may end up becoming an even larger political lightning rod in 2024.
That’s why there have been growing calls from within Pelosi’s own party for her to step aside and resign.
And now that power is finally slipping from her hands, it appears the American people could be just days away from a monumental announcement about the end of Pelosi’s political career.
“In 2018, Pelosi, 82, promised that she would give up the Speaker’s gavel at the end of this term, but some Democrats think that she may retain her position,” adds The Hill.
Pelosi could try to cling on to power for a bit longer.
But the signs are already piling up that her time in office is coming to an end.
All that is left now is to see how long it will take for a formal retirement announcement to come from Pelosi’s office.
