Control over the U.S. Senate is in play next year.
Democrats are desperate to hold on to power.
And Nancy Pelosi made a major 2024 Senate move.
Democrats face a difficult 2024 U.S. Senate map where they are defending 20 seats compared to just 11 for the Republicans.
Vulnerable Democrat incumbents are running for re-election in Montana, Ohio and West Virginia where whoever wins the GOP nomination is expected to carry in a landslide.
Republicans also targeted seats in Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
All the GOP needs to do is flip two seats to recapture the majority.
Yet Nancy Pelosi’s top priority is pushing Adam Schiff to victory on the California Senate race.
Despite the fact that two other liberal women — Katie Porter and Barbara Lee — declared for the race to replace retiring Dianne Feinstein, Pelosi endorsed Adam Schiff.
And now Pelosi is strong-arming her top female donors to fund Schiff’s campaign.
Pelosi reportedly cut a deal to endorse Schiff if Schiff agreed to drop his bid for Democrat leader in the House of Representatives.
Nancy Pelosi wanted New York Democrat Hakeem Jeffries to succeed her in a seamless transition and Pelosi’s endorsement of Schiff’s Senate campaign — and the accompanying financial muscle — was the price of getting Schiff to stand down.
Tara Palmeri of Puck News reports:
This crew of pro-female candidate fundraisers is also receiving an influx of calls from Nancy Pelosi, who has been hounding donors to support Adam Schiff for his Senate run. The intensity of Pelosi’s support has some wondering how much of this is about making good on her promise to Schiff, whom she vowed to support for the Senate seat in exchange for his decision to abort a run for party leader and cede the role to Hakeem Jeffries, and how much is about proving her kingmaker status.
Pelosi’s full-court press seems to be working in terms of quickly corralling the California Democratic establishment around Schiff. Joni Binder and Robert Shwarts, Charles Adams, Jeff Bleich, Olivia Ware, Marcie and Mark Tuttle and Rebecca Schumacher are all hosting a fundraiser for him in San Francisco on March 11.
Due to California’s primary rules — where all candidates regardless of party enter the race — there is a strong chance two Democrats will advance to the general election given California’s deep-blue hue.
If Schiff advances to the general election he would likely face a radical-left, female Democrat in Porter or Lee.
Schiff spent years lying about the Russian collusion hoax to position himself for just this moment.
But it looks like despite all the hoaxes Schiff perpetrated about Trump colluding with Russia he will still depend on Nancy Pelosi for victory.
