Nancy Pelosi normally plays for keeps.
But this time Pelosi found herself on the losing end of a fight.
And Nancy Pelosi shocked Republicans by waving the white flag of defeat in one fight.
Nancy Pelosi gave her blessing to a scheme to steal the election in Iowa’s Second Congressional District.
A bipartisan state commission certified Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ win over Democrat incumbent Rita Hart by the margin of just six votes.
Despite the historically narrow margin of Miller-Meeks’ win, both Democrats and Republicans in Iowa that supervise elections accepted the results.
But not Rita Hart or Nancy Pelosi.
Pelosi gave Hart the stamp of approval to use the Democrat majority in the House of Representatives to steal the election.
Instead of challenging the result in court, Hart took her case to the Democrat-run House Administration Committee.
If the Committee voted in Hart’s favor, her case would head to the floor of the House where Democrats could steal the election from Miller-Meeks with a simple majority vote.
Critics contended this was the direct attack on democracy that Democrats spent months falsely accusing President Trump of staging.
However, this scheme imploded on the launch pad.
Swing district Democrats got cold feet upon realizing that stealing the election in Iowa would lead to a tidal wave of anger in the population and sweep the Democrats out of power next year.
Pelosi and Hart could count votes and knew they would come up short on the vote count and folded.
Hart released a letter conceding the race and dropping her attempt to leverage the Democrat majority to steal a congressional seat.
“After many conversations with people I trust about the future of this contest, I have made the decision to withdraw my contest before the House Committee on Administration,” Hart wrote.
Hart did push a dubious claim that not all voters had their ballots counted when even Democrats in the state certified the results.
“I am saddened that some Iowans’ votes will not count through no fault of their own. The work of ensuring it does not happen again will continue beyond this campaign,” Hart added.
“I wish Mariannette Miller-Meeks all the best as she serves the people of this great state as Congresswoman. This has been a difficult process for all of those involved and it’s incredibly important that we work together to reform the system so this does not happen again,” Hart concluded.
This scheme to disenfranchise the voters in Iowa’s Second Congressional District was set in motion by Nancy Pelosi.
In a March 14 interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Pelosi defended stealing the election by citing the narrow margin.
“Well, it was six votes. It was six votes and our candidate Rita Hart, the Democratic candidate, asked for this process to begin. Six votes out of 400,000 votes cast. This is not unique. This has happened — maybe even when you were in the Capitol before when races had been close one side or the others say, let’s take it to the House. Because even Justice Scalia agreed that the House has the authority to seat members, and therefore we can count the votes,” Pelosi stated.
Pelosi is not known for giving in during a fight.
And it must have gnawed at Pelosi to cave in to Republicans in this battle.
