Nancy Pelosi’s days as Speaker of the House are numbered.
She’s destined to lose big in next year’s elections.
And now she’s getting huge warning signs that prove her party is about to get swamped in 2020.
Nancy Pelosi has never had a good month as Speaker of the House.
After sweeping back into power during last year’s elections which saw Democrats retake the House of Representatives for the first time since 2010, Pelosi has struggled to not just push back against President Trump’s agenda, but even keep her own caucus in line.
The House Speaker has been battling the most aggressive President in recent history, and a Democratic civil war is now brewing on the horizon.
With the red flags building up, Pelosi is quickly running out of time to right the ship.
And now, new warning signs are showing that it may already be too late.
When Pelosi’s party retook control of the House last year, it was on the backs of swing districts across the country which had traditionally been Republican-leaning.
These districts had backed Republicans for years, and in some cases decades, but Pelosi’s party won them by igniting anti-Trump voters to get to the polls in record numbers.
But this is rapidly turning out to be a one-time trick for Democrats.
The districts that made Pelosi Speaker again seem poised to swing back against her next year, and there is no better place that shows just how much danger Pelosi is in than one Congressional District in southern California.
RealClearPolitics reports, “California Democrats completed their sweep of GOP-held congressional seats in the once conservative stronghold of Orange County last fall when self-funding lottery winner Gil Cisneros squeaked out a victory. His race against businesswoman Young Kim was considered one of the closest and craziest of the cycle.”
The districts like the ones found in suburban Orange County are exactly the kind that Democrats simply cannot afford to lose in the 2020 elections.
And yet the Democratic incumbent there is trailing in an early poll that shows Pelosi’s party may be on the brink of disaster.
“Cisneros is trailing a Republican challenger, 46%-44% (with 9% undecided), according to a new survey conducted on behalf of the National Republican Congressional Committee,” adds RealClearPolitics.
Republicans are eyeing the district as a prime target in their bid to retake control of the chamber next year.
And Pelosi’s own party members are making that job much easier.
RealClearPolitics concludes, “Republicans say the numbers show that Cisneros is having a hard time shaking the impact of many House Dems’ far-left turn spearheaded by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her supporters since winning back the majority last fall. Fifty-seven percent of district voters view socialism in a negative light, the poll found.”
If Pelosi loses seats like this across the country, her House majority is in danger of collapsing.
The odds of Democrats holding the House will plummet to zero if they can’t keep the very districts they flipped just last year.
