Nancy Pelosi is leading the fight to impeach President Donald Trump.
But things aren’t going as well as she was hoping.
And she was in tears after a new poll revealed horrible news.
Pelosi is hoping to push impeachment across the finish line in the coming days.
Reports indicate she wants to push the vote through the House of Representatives before the Christmas holiday, in order to prevent on-the-fence Democrats from hearing from their constituents during their break.
If Thanksgiving gave an indication, breaks from Congress are good for President Trump when it comes to public opinion against impeachment.
Before that break, public approval for impeachment was nearing approval from voters.
But now that Representatives are back, things aren’t looking good for Pelosi.
The latest poll from Quinnipiac University shows that a healthy majority of voters oppose impeachment.
Of total voters, impeachment is opposed by a 51-45 margin.
And when it comes to Independents, things are even worse, with opposition to impeachment having a 52-44 margin.
This is a very bad sign for Democrats.
It is the first time since Pelosi announced her support for impeachment that more than half of voters gave their opposition, as Quinnipiac notes:
“Today’s poll is the first time since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the inquiry that more than half of voters say that Trump should not be impeached.”
It isn’t the first time that a plurality of voters has opposed it, but it is the first time that over 50 percent has.
The November 26th poll from Quinnipiac showed that 48 percent opposed impeachment, with 45 percent showing their approval.
So things aren’t looking good for Pelosi.
The decreasing support can likely be attributed to the hearings in Jerry Nadler’s House Judiciary Committee being exposed as a partisan scam.
In a recent hearing, Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz took on Daniel Goldman, who is a former MSNBC contributor who is currently serving as House Democrats’ counsel for the impeachment hearings.
He exposed his partisan bias in a short series of questions.
Gaetz pointedly asked him, “Are you a partisan?”
Unsurprisingly, Goldman quickly responded, claiming, “I’m not a partisan.”
In response, Gaetz questioned Goldman, asking “you’ve given tens of thousands of dollars to Democrats, right?”
And while Goldman tried to make it seem as though he didn’t know the answer to that question, a quick fact check confirms that Goldman has been a long-time Democrat donor.
He gave the maximum allowable by law to every Democrat presidential nominee since 2008.
Gaetz also questioned Goldman about a tweet he made about the infamous Trump-Russia dossier that led to the formation of the Russia investigation, where he stated that “nothing in the dossier is proven false.”
“But the dossier said there was a Russian consulate in Miami, when there isn’t,” Gaetz said, silencing Goldman. “The dossier said that Michael Cohen had a meeting in Prague when he didn’t. The dossier said that Michael Cohen’s wife was Russian, she’s, in fact, Ukrainian.”
The American people clearly realize that impeachment has nothing to do with anything of substance, and has everything to do with hatred for President Trump.
