Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is once again in big trouble.
This time the New York Democrat bit off way more than she could chew.
And a Navy Seal war hero shut down Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with this reality check.
Fake news outlets like CNN falsely reported that the gunman in the Odessa and Midland shootings purchased his firearms through a “loophole” that allows for private sales without a background check.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the gunman allegedly purchased his weapon from an individual that broke the law by selling firearms he manufactured himself.
But the initial flood of fake news about loopholes for private sales – it is illegal to sell firearms to someone you suspect of being ineligible to pass a background check –led gun grabbers to seize the moment to push a ban on private sales.
Even anti-gun Congressman Dan Crenshaw – who supports red flag confiscation orders so Obama judges can order SWAT teams to kick people’s doors in and seize their guns – saw the folly in banning private sales.
Crenshaw tweeted that he loans his guns to friends for hunting trips or if they feel they need them for self-defense, and a ban on private sales would make time-honored traditions in rural America illegal.
“Situations like this story are why we protect the 2nd Amendment. Side note: With universal background checks, I wouldn’t be able to let my friends borrow my handgun when they travel alone like this. We would make felons out of people just for defending themselves,” Crenshaw tweeted.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is always down for a social media royal rumble and she pounced on Crenshaw’s tweet.
But in her haste to dunk on Crenshaw, Ocasio-Cortez committed a catastrophic blunder.
The socialist Congresswoman wrote that anyone that wanted to borrow a gun was a wife beater and only wanted to obtain a firearm from a friend because they would fail a federal background check.
Ocasio-Cortez clapped back by asking, “You are a member of Congress. Why are you ‘lending’ guns to people unsupervised who can’t pass a basic background check? The people you’re giving a gun to have likely abused their spouse or have a violent criminal record, & you may not know it. Why on earth would you do that?”
Congressman Crenshaw – who is a friend to gun rights advocates – shut down Ocasio-Cortez with one tweet about her coastal elitism.
“Just so I’m clear: you think my friends are domestic abusers/criminals? Seriously that’s your argument? That they can’t pass a background check? Wrong. People lend guns to friends, esp if they don’t own a gun, for self-defense and hunting purposes. This is America outside NYC,” Crenshaw responded.
The gun grabbers thought the Odessa and Midland shooting would provide the perfect opportunity to press forward on banning private sales.
But the facts of the case show the deranged gunman already violated a series of federal laws to illegally obtain his firearm.
And even anti-gunners like Dan Crenshaw realize new gun control would only disarm law-abiding citizens.
