Barack Obama thought he had President Trump cornered in the fight over a border wall between Mexico and America.
But Obama wasn’t expecting a shocking betrayal by one of his former allies.
In just eight words, this former Obama official destroyed Nancy Pelosi’s argument against a border wall.
It’s obvious why Democrats oppose President Trump’s planned border wall between the United States and Mexico.
Democrats are convinced that if given a chance, illegal immigrants will continue to flood across the border, creating a crisis that could end itself with a pathway to citizenship for them.
And Democrats are further convinced that once given citizenship, the overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants in the United States will vote Democrat straight down every election ballot for generations.
It’s a simple numbers game for the Democratic Party, though they are careful not to present it as such.
Instead, Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama choose to attack the proposed wall with Mexico over fiscal concerns, despite the fact that Democrats routinely show almost no constraint when it comes to spending taxpayer money hand-over-first when they control the federal government.
Even so, the argument that a border wall is inefficient and wasteful remains a potent criticism from Democrats.
However, President Obama’s own Border Patrol Chief has chosen to enter the political fray in the fight over the wall and offer his own expert opinion on the matter.
The Daily Caller reports, “Mark Morgan, the Border Patrol Chief under former President Barack Obama, ardently supports President Donald Trump’s desire to build a wall along the southern border.”
In just eight words, Morgan obliterated Pelosi’s entire argument against a wall.
“Everywhere where a wall was built, it works,” he said.
Morgan also added that illegal immigration was reduced by as much as 90% in places that were protected by a border wall as opposed to those areas without a wall.
Morgan later added that he believes morale throughout border patrol employees is higher under the Trump administration as opposed to Obama’s because “there is an administration that understands the importance of what they’re doing, understands what needs to be done.”
Morgan served as the Chief Border Patrol officer until January 2017, when President Trump chose to fill the slot with someone of his own choosing.
Despite serving under President Obama however, Morgan has emerged as a sharp critic of Democratic attacks on ICE and other border securing measures proposed by the President.
His facts regarding border security, combined with his own on-the-ground experience defending the southern border open a gap in Democratic attacks on President Trump’s proposed wall that have yet to be addressed by Pelosi or Obama.
What’s worse for Democrats, these arguments are being made by someone who served under President Obama himself.
With the federal shutdown now over and Congress supposedly negotiating over President Trump’s wall as part of a grand bipartisan compromise, it’s unclear what sort of bill may emerge from Washington.
