Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the left’s newest fixation.
But while liberals within the Democratic Party praise her, Ocasio-Cortez seems to be shattering her own party.
All it took was just one bill for Ocasio-Cortez to destroy Nancy Pelosi’s control over Congress.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was supposed to be the left’s latest savior, since former President Barack Obama is no longer in office.
But while she’s sprung on the scene in less than a year and became a household name in that short amount of time, Ocasio-Cortez seems to be doing far more damage to her own party than she is the Republicans.
She’s fought with Pelosi and the Democratic establishment, who hate her for her upset defeat of a major establishment figure in New York last summer, on nearly every major issue in Washington.
It’s not that Ocasio-Cortez opposes Pelosi herself, but she’s arguing that Pelosi isn’t moving the country to the left far enough.
And the feud has reached a fever pitch as Ocasio-Cortez is now destroying Pelosi’s control over the House of Representatives.
Breitbart reports, “Democrats in the House of Representatives canceled a scheduled vote on a two-year budget bill Tuesday as the more moderate members of the party are clashing with the progressive members.”
It’s much worse for Pelosi than that though.
She’s facing the largest open revolt within her own caucus since taking the Speaker’s gavel this past January.
And it’s all because of Ocasio-Cortez too.
“Democrats in the House of Representatives canceled a scheduled vote on a two-year budget bill Tuesday as the more moderate members of the party are clashing with the progressive members,” reports the Daily Caller.
“Many members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus pushed back against the budget bill, saying the bill is too focused on funding for the Pentagon instead of funding for domestic programs, according to Politico. More moderate members in the Blue Dog Coalition also are coming out against the bill, but for different reasons, saying the bill is too expensive.”
This suggests the Democratic Party is at a breaking point.
The party is divided heavily over the most critical part of the United States government, and this means that there could be larger battles coming down the pipeline as time progresses.
For Pelosi, the budget battle is a disaster.
She was supposed to be battling Republicans in the Senate and President Trump over the budget, not her own party.
The budget battle suggests that as the 2020 elections near, Democrats will remain divided between themselves as Republicans seek to retake the House of Representatives and hold the Senate and White House.
“Democrats are likely to cancel the vote for the bill, unless they can come to an agreement in their leadership meeting Tuesday night. The canceled vote would be a bad sign for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, as it would show her party is not united under her leadership,” concludes the Daily Caller.
