Democrats are casting about for candidates to challenge Donald Trump in 2020.
They could be turning to Hollywood.
And in one speech, Oprah Winfrey launched the most serious threat to Donald Trump.
Winfrey received the Cecil B. DeMille award at the Golden Globes and was expected to deliver a highly charged political acceptance speech.
She did not disappoint.
Winfrey blasted the culture of Hollywood liberals caught up in sexual misconduct scandals – although photos of her kissing the disgraced Harvey Weinstein quickly surfaced – and she fired a shot at Trump by claiming women, minorities, and those were bullied would soon have their day.
Her speech lit the left on fire, and journalists and celebrities quickly raced to declare that not only had Oprah announced her candidacy, but that she would win.

Oprah’s long time partner Stedman Graham said Winfrey would run for President if that was what the people wanted.
The Los Angeles Times reports:
“Oprah Winfrey for president was something of a running theme throughout the Golden Globes on Sunday, beginning with Seth Meyers’ opening monologue. He jokingly forbade Winfrey from considering the presidency.
But the trend picked up steam as the night unfolded, particularly after Winfrey’s impassioned acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
It didn’t take long for social media, and celebs in particular, to rally Winfrey for the job, including inside the ceremony.
“It’s up to the people,” Winfrey’s longtime partner, Stedman Graham, told The Times. “She would absolutely do it.”
Democrats are thrilled by the prospect of a Winfrey Presidency, but a Hollywood liberal running as a social justice warrior would do nothing to attract the voters who flocked to Trump because the cultural left sneered at them.
