Robert Mueller has not given up on his quest to remove Donald Trump from office.
The special counsel is mounting one final bid to destroy the Trump Presidency.
And now all hell is breaking loose after Robert Mueller made this big move to impeach President Trump.
When Robert Mueller released his report and delivered his ten-minute public statement on its findings, everyone thought America’s long national nightmare was over.
The Mueller investigation was finished and the special counsel had spoken.
Mueller and his team of Democrat prosecutors found no criminal conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, nor did it make a determination on obstruction of justice.
At that point, everyone figured the case was closed and it was finally time to move on to issues that actually mattered.
But Democrats were not ready to throw in the towel.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler began making noise about subpoenaing Mueller to testify about his report.
No one understood why this was necessary.
Mueller had already laid out all his findings in a publically available 400-page report.
But on Tuesday, Nadler and Schiff dispatched a letter to Mueller begging him to testify before their committees.
“The American public deserves to hear directly from you about your investigation and conclusions,” Nadler and Schiff wrote to Mueller.
“We will work with you to address legitimate concerns about preserving the integrity of your work, but we expect that you will appear before our committees as scheduled.”
And right on cue, Mueller agreed to testify in an open hearing on July 17th.
That set up one of the highest stakes of Donald Trump’s Presidency.
Democrats are sure to parade Mueller before the cameras hoping the former special counsel will stick the final knife in Donald Trump’s back.
But this appearance could blow up in the Democrats faces.
Republicans will have their own questions for Mueller.
Attorney General William Barr had testified that Mueller informed him that the Justice Department guidelines preventing the indictment of a sitting President were not the sole reason his office did not recommend obstruction charges against Trump.
Given that, Republicans will want to know why Mueller disregarded Justice Department protocol and included negative information about Trump in the obstruction volume when it’s standard procedure for prosecutors to not make derogatory information public about individuals not being charged.
Republicans will also want to know why Mueller said he could not ‘exonerate’ Trump on obstruction of justice.
In America, you are innocent until proven guilty.
By including that language in his report, Mueller adopted an un-American stance that those under investigation are guilty unless they can prove they are innocent.
So this public testimony is Mueller’s last Hail Mary chance to use his authority to advance the impeachment of Donald Trump.
