It takes a lot to stun Tucker Carlson into silence.
But that’s exactly what happened during a recent broadcast.
And Ron DeSantis said seven words that left Tucker Carlson’s jaw on the ground.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act” into law.
This legislation banned biological males from competing in women’s sports.
But what made the legislation notable was the fact that DeSantis signed it into law despite the fact that the NCAA threatened to boycott the state and deprive Florida of the economic benefit that comes from hosting major events like the NCAA Basketball Tournament and the College Football Playoff.
In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Governor DeSantis described the pressure the NCAA put on Florida to scuttle this legislation by threatening to boycott the state.
DeSantis relayed to Carlson that the NCAA’s threats only emboldened him to press forward in seeing the bill become law.
“I think as these bills were going through various legislatures, I remember the [National Collegiate Athletic Association] put out a statement saying any state that enacts this, we’re not going to hold events there and so I called the Speaker of the House in Florida and I said ‘Did you hear what they said?’ and he’s like, ‘Yeah’ and I said, ‘We’ve definitely got to get this done,’” DeSantis told Carlson.
DeSantis expanded on his thoughts saying that in this day and age, you “can’t be cowed by these organizations.”
“You can’t be cowed by these organizations, particularly by woke corporations, from doing the right thing and so my view was throughout this whole time, we have to protect our girls,” DeSantis added.
Democrats are using woke allies in corporate boardrooms to threaten red states with economic blackmail if they oppose the left’s agenda.
Major League Baseball pulled the All-Star Game from Atlanta after Joe Biden endorsed boycotting the Peach State over a new election integrity law.
The NCAA bullied South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem into vetoing legislation to protect women’s sports by delivering an ultimatum that the state could not host any championship events if Governor Noem signed the bill.
DeSantis attacked the NCAA and other woke corporations for trying to “deny equal opportunity to hundreds of thousands of young girl and women athletes throughout Florida” by opposing the “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act.”
Governor DeSantis told Carlson the choice was easy.
“I am much more willing to stand with the girls and to hell with these events,” DeSantis declared.
DeSantis relayed the message to other Republicans that the only way to stop woke corporations from trying to impose the left’s political will through economic boycotts was to stand up to them and make it clear their intimidation tactics would fail.
“They’re going to go nowhere. It’s going to be like hitting their head against a brick wall,” DeSantis explained.
