The so-called “mainstream” media is terrified of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
But the left’s desperation is causing them to make major mistakes.
And Ron DeSantis shut down a big fake news media lie with the help of a surprising ally.
Democrats and their tag team partners in the media view DeSantis as a threat to their power in the 2024 election.
DeSantis’ star rose as DeSantis rejected lockdowns and mask mandates during the coronavirus pandemic while keeping Florida’s schools and economy open.
Fellow big states run by Democrats such as California and New York suffered while incompetents such Governor Andrew Cuomo killed senior citizens and Governor Gavin Newsom killed the economy with lockdowns and school closures.
CBS News’ “60 Minutes” decided DeSantis needed to be destroyed before DeSantis used his 2022 re-election campaign as a springboard to a 2024 presidential campaign.
So “60 Minutes” decided to attack DeSantis on his strength by trying to fabricate a scandal to falsely claim DeSantis was a corrupt hack that killed black Floridians with a pay-for-play vaccine distribution scheme.
“60 Minutes” claimed DeSantis awarded the popular Florida chain Publix an exclusive contract to distribute the vaccine after Publix donated $100,000 to his campaign and despite the fact that in heavily black neighborhoods in Palm Beach, there was no Publix within 30 miles.
CBS sent a reporter to a DeSantis press conference to ambush the governor with accusations that Governor DeSantis arranged a corrupt bargain with Publix.
You can watch the clip below, but CBS deceptively edited DeSantis’ answer to omit his explanation that CVS and Walgreens were initially contracted to vaccinate nursing home residents and that when they finished that job, the state would use them to vaccinate the wider population.
CBS also cut out DeSantis recounting how the state asked other private pharmacies if they wanted to participate and Publix was the first company to volunteer.
DeSantis also received backup from an unlikely source in Palm Beach’s Democrat Mayor Dave Kerner.
Kerner laced into CBS in a statement where he accused “60 Minutes” of intentionally lying to the viewers and that CBS refused to put him on the air to refute the charges that Governor DeSantis involving Publix in the vaccination effort was pay-to-play.
“I watched the 60 Minutes segment on Palm Beach County last night and feel compelled to issue this statement. The reporting was not just based on bad information – it was intentionally false. I know this because I offered to provide my insight into Palm Beach County’s vaccination efforts and 60 Minutes declined,” Kerner wrote.
Kerner detailed how DeSantis met with him and other county officials who asked DeSantis to expand Publix’s role in vaccinating their citizens.
“They know that the Governor came to Palm Beach County and met with me and the County Administrator and we asked to expand the state’s partnership with Publix to Palm Beach County. We also discussed our own local plans to expand mass vaccinations centers throughout the county, which the Governor has been incredibly supportive,” Kerner added.
Kerner continued on praising DeSantis for stepping up to the plate and coming through with a successful vaccine distribution plan and also slamming CBS for purposefully omitting facts that undercut the anti-DeSantis political narrative they intended to broadcast.
“We asked and he delivered. They had that information, and they left it out because it kneecaps their narrative,” Kerner said.
