Democrats are holding out hope they can retain their congressional majority in the 2022 midterm elections.
But Democrats got some bad news.
And that’s because Ron DeSantis told this truth that spells the end of Nancy Pelosi’s career.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis told the “Ruthless” podcast that he predicted the 2022 midterm election would feature massive turnout as Americans streamed to the polls to vote against governors that carried on like tyrants during COVID.
Normally, there is a falloff in turnout in the midterms from the last presidential election.
But Governor DeSantis remarked that since Americans saw firsthand just how important their governor is – governors unilaterally closed businesses, mandated masks and locked down schools – 2022 would see higher than normal turnout.
“Because of COVID, people realize the governor has been more consequential in your daily lives than even the President of the United States,” DeSantis stated.
DeSantis predicted previously disengaged Americans would turnout to repudiate politicians that mandated vaccines and destroyed businesses with lockdowns.
“And so, we have an opportunity to not just get all of you to the polls, but to get your friends and neighbors who don’t always vote in these races, and we’re going to have a tsunami of turnout in November 2022,” DeSantis continued.
DeSantis told the “Ruthless” hosts that the higher voter turnout would present an opportunity for Republicans to redraw the political map.
“And that’s what’s really exciting about it,” DeSantis told listeners.
DeSantis explained that even though the governors’ races would spur the higher turnout, voters would also cast ballots for congressional and state House races meaning if voters were to punish Democrat governors for their lockdowns and mandates, the wave would seep down the ticket and lift Republicans to a staggering victory.
“Of course, my election is very important, but you know, we have congressional races that are going to be up, we have got a lot of important things up and down the ballot, so we have great energy and we have an opportunity, I think, to build a phenomenal coalition,” Governor DeSantis concluded.
There is little doubt that Americans view Democrats as the party of COVID mandates.
The Virginia and New Jersey off-year elections proved that to be a massive liability as both states swung decisively to the right compared to 2021.
In both cases, Republicans campaigned against Democrat governors that closed down schools and businesses, mandated masks and threatened to create vaccine requirements.
Voters had enough and elected Republicans to all three statewide offices in Virginia for the first time since 2009.
In New Jersey, incumbent Governor Phil Murphy barely won by two-and-a-half points after running up a landslide 15-point victory four years ago.
Democrats know what Ron DeSantis predicted about 2022 is likely to come true.
A red wave election as a backlash to two years of COVID mandates and restrictions would not only mean the end of the Democrats’ majority in the House of Representatives, but also Nancy Pelosi’s career.
That’s because it is widely assumed that Pelosi is waiting until after the midterm elections to announce her retirement from Congress.
And if Ron DeSantis is correct, Pelosi will be ending her career on the heels of a massive defeat.
