Ever since election night, Fox News is under a microscope.
Many longtime viewers were shocked at what they were watching.
And Rush Limbaugh claimed Fox News made this mistake that could put it out of business.
Fox News viewers are beginning to question if the network is changing direction.
When Fox News premiered in 1996 it marketed itself through various slogans – “We report. You decide,” and “fair and balanced” – that positioned Fox as the alternative to the liberal bias and pro-Democrat Party agenda framing of the so-called “mainstream” media.
But now large numbers of Fox’s audience are questioning if after years of liberal critics bombarding Fox with smears of “state TV,” Fox threw in the towel and joined the liberal media in piling on Donald Trump.
Rush Limbaugh addressed this criticism of Fox and explained why it was valid and why it was dangerous.
Limbaugh began by ticking off all the complaints viewers had with Fox News from Chris Wallace’s biased debate moderating performance to Fox’s premature call of Arizona on election night.
“We’ve got Donna Brazile all over the place. We’ve got everybody on a talking head interview, half of them or more are New York Times or Washington Post Democrat media people. The Arizona call. Some even think the Chris Wallace debate think is an anti-Trump move. But, you know, throughout all of this, the media can’t turn talk radio, can they? The media has been desperate to blow up talk radio and Fox News. They’ve wanted to blow up Fox News ever since Fox News was founded and created. And they’ve wanted to blow talk radio up since before that,” Limbaugh began.
Limbaugh explained that the left spent years trying to destroy talk radio and now they turned their attention to Fox News.
And in Limbaugh’s estimation, the left was succeeding in changing Fox News as the wife of James Murdoch – the son of Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch – tweeted how happy she was that Donald Trump lost the election.
Limbaugh warned that if the left succeeded in pressuring Fox News to morph into another version of CNN, it presented a danger to the country as the largest counterweight to the so-called “mainstream” media’s Democrat Party activism would vanish.
“Let me tell you something, folks. If the people running Fox succeed in destroying the distinction that Fox has from the rest of the media, they’re gonna destroy Fox. If they are successful in taking away from Fox the things that distinguish it and make it appear different from the rest of the Drive-By Media, what do you think’s gonna happen?” Limbaugh wondered.
