The impeachment witch hunt is nearing its conclusion.
And the 2020 election is right around the corner.
With both of these storms swirling around the President, Rush Limbaugh made this scary prediction about Donald Trump’s future.
No one in Washington doubts the outcome of Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.
The Senate is expected to exonerate the President with a bipartisan acquittal vote.
That means the focus in the political world is now trained on what happens next.
And Rush Limbaugh has some thoughts on that.
“So what’s next? ‘Cause there is gonna be something next. When this impeachment fiasco gets buried, what’s the next psychodrama? Are we gonna have another whistleblower? Is somebody gonna magically find, after Trump’s acquitted, some new evidence on this Ukraine phone call? Or is it gonna be something entirely different?” Limbaugh asked his audience.
Limbaugh predicted that the President’s complete exoneration – and the Democrats’ total defeat and humiliation – would end the crusade to destroy Donald Trump.
Instead, Limbaugh believes Democrats and the fake news media will invent a new “scandal” to use against the President as the nation turns its attention to the 2020 Presidential campaign.
“There has to be a scandal. There has to be something that’s got everybody all stirred up. And I don’t know what it is. Maybe as we get closer there will be some signs of what it is, because what’s gonna happen as we get closer to the end of this — and the obvious end is the acquittal — as we approach that, we might get some indication of where they’re heading next because they won’t be able to help themselves,” Limbaugh concluded.
Limbaugh finished his thoughts on the topic by noting that not only should Trump supporters not be surprised by this, but that the Democrats were digging their own political graves by keeping the witch hunt going.
“But one thing we know, from the moment the votes were counted on election night, Donald Trump has been in crisis. Donald Trump has been in the crosshairs. Donald Trump is being investigated. From the moment he won the election, there has been something. There hasn’t been a day off. And there won’t be. And I think they are digging their own grave every day they do this. But they don’t,” Limbaugh added.
There is polling data that backs up Limbaugh’s assertions
Polls show the President’s approval ratings ticking up because of impeachment.
A Washington Post/ABC poll released on the third day of the impeachment trial found the President scoring his highest ever approval rating in that poll.
But it’s unlikely Democrats will learn their lesson.
During Adam Schiff’s impeachment arguments in the Senate, Schiff admitted the Democrats impeached Trump and the Senate needed to remove the President from office because Democrats believed Trump was a favorite to win re-election.
Former Vice President Joe Biden echoed that sentiment when he admitted at a campaign event that the Senate exonerating the President would make Trump much tougher to beat in the fall.
With Democrats’ political prospects in 2020 fading, Democrats know continuing to throw scandals at the President in hopes something – anything – sticks is their only chance at victory.
