As the calendar turns to 2020, Donald Trump and his supporters are hoping to move past impeachment into a more favorable political environment.
The President believes he holds an ace up his sleeve that will change the narrative in Washington.
But Rush Limbaugh warned Donald Trump was about to suffer this crushing setback.
President Trump and his supporters waited patiently for months as Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz put together his report on the FBI’s abuse of power in using FISA warrants to spy on the Trump campaign during the 2016 election.
But in recent weeks, disturbing leaks began to seep into the fake news media.
“Sources familiar” with Horowitz’s report put the word out in friendly, fake news outlets like CNN and the New York Times that the inspector general would report the FBI’s decision to open the Russian collusion investigation was on sound legal and factual footing – meaning that these sources claimed Horowitz found there was no Deep State set up.
To be sure, none of these sources read the full report.
The fake news CNN and New York Times stories were fed to them by rogue operators like James Comey and Andrew McCabe – who as subjects of the report had the opportunity to review the sections that pertained to them to offer edits – so there was every motivation to spin the findings n the most favorable light possible to shape the narrative surrounding the report’s release.
Rush Limbaugh broke down those news stories and said despite what many Trump supporters were hearing from some news sources, everyone should prepare themselves for a giant letdown with the Horowitz report.
“Now, it rings true to a lot of people because — look, my friends, I don’t know how long ago it was. It’s been at least weeks that I shared my own personal opinion on this inspector general report, that it was not gonna be anything anybody would be happy about. The inspector general is so limited in what he can do. He can’t really even compel testimony. The people he talks to are given two weeks to look at the report and lobby for changes and edits,” Limbaugh began.
Limbaugh explained that inspectors general like Horowitz were also accountable to Congress as well as the administration.
Given that Horowitz is serving multiple constituencies, Horowitz was likely to soften the blow on some parts of the report on the FBI’s misconduct to appease the Congressional Democrats Horowitz answers to.
“And this guy wants to keep his job. He’s gonna do his best not to tick off any of these constituencies, which means you’re gonna get a vanilla report. This guy does not have subpoena power. He can only make criminal referrals. He cannot accuse anybody of anything. He can’t charge anybody with anything. He never has. I don’t know what you’ve been told or what you’ve been led to expect from this. I suspect some people have got many of you wired up for the IG report,” Limbaugh concluded.
